So I used a Genetic Tester on a hatchling and said that he had Fae Dust as a mutation. How do you tell if it is visible or carried?

The text for something carried will be in italics, and regular non-italicized would indicate something visible.

Another way to check if you cannot really tell if something is italicized or not is to look at either the image url or advanced search. A carried trait will have an N first so say NB where a visible trait is, say, BB. In advanced search, carried traits are in green while visible traits are either blue or purple depending on if there is a hidden trait.

No. You can breed traits out, but there is no way to remove a trait.
