I have no idea what would cause that. I'd suggest just trying to clear your cache.
Other than that, must be something going on with the iPad.

I actually have an answer(though possibly not THE answer) to why your lair was filled with hearts a few weeks back. it's potentially a cache issue but whats happening is your computer for some reason is crossing wires and putting images from other sites into various places. How it was explained to me is they happen to have a picture called 1.PNG or such and it'll replace the proper one. In both our cases I believe our computer/ipad's tracking cookies/temporary internet files(which pre-load images) got messed up.
I had search images turn up as dragon on flightrising once and after a bit of cackling it was finally explained to me. If you squint you'll see a familar webpage in the below image.
It's not a virus( Though you should run a scan if you haven't already done so!) or anything dangerous but some flash and/or java programs might be affected. When this happened I was unable to access FR's coliseum(which is flash or java based,i don't know which) until i cleared my cookies and restarted my computer.
krin-sorry if you don't want to be pinged for something like this but as you said above you didn't know so...
