So, I've FINALLY made up my mind for the Iridescent Qitari idea, where all of the colors are based entirely on the Iridescent Scales trait. That said, Iridescent Scales will be on every offspring for Mutation 1, no matter what. I've also decided to add a bit of variance between traits, with optional Reindeer or Quagga for Gene 1, and optional Luxurious Locks or Whiskered Dragon Mane for Mutation 2. The other traits available would be Tri-Colored Mane for Gene 3, and Butterfly Wings for Mutation 3. While I would usually do a 6-vis project, Gene 2 has no effect on the Iridescent Scales, meaning there would be no point. Oh well. *shrugs*
The Mystical Trio! Iridescent, Pearlescent, and Opalescent
Spawning from these three mystically generated Qitari, a grand total of 72 different results can eventually be bred. And I'm juuuust crazy enough to list them all!

Round 5,6 & 9 for the win Xav xD I do love this concept and can see why you're having troubles cx but I really like Round 5 and 9 tbh

These are looking good, but I have to point out that they are technically pearlescent, not iridescent.
Also, why not start with some Tamed that have really great traits, and then dye them? That would probably be easier and cheaper than starting with Essences. Just sayin'.

The scales themselves are called "Iridescent Scales" so I'd rather it fit. The entirety of the colors are based on the mutation itself, after all. The trait just caught my interest since the colors are fixed, so I wanted to work those colors across the whole Qitari.
And really I'm not so certain that dyes would be any cheaper. Lessers will have way to much of a skew in the colors, and for whites and lights even a few minute differences would have catastrophic results. Considering the time I'm taking to perfect the color blends it would be a waste to use lessers and ruin the whole idea of the project. Greater Dyes would be necessary, and probably 10-15 just to get everything perfect for each pet. It'd take at least three pets to complete the project itself depending on traits, so overall it may be more efficient to use Mystical Essences. 1000 diamonds each with a slim chance of needing greater dyes, vs a guaranteed need of 1500-2250 diamonds each just for dyes?
Mystical Essences have won on that end.
Plus, I'm a project fanatic - have been for over a year now. If I can't make it exactly what I want, I just won't do it. (Probably a good thing - if I settled for less I'd never have an end-goal for all of the themed pets I breed ._.; ). And if it's something I want bad enough I'll find a way to make it happen. Cost is hardly a concern - I've spent millions of gold and thousands of diamonds on other projects already. It just takes some time and some effort.

Hello random pinged people!
Since you showed an interest while I was setting up I figured I'd let you all know that I've finally made my decisions for the project. I... can't really remember which traits were assigned to what round while I was jotting them down on the forum, however, so if you're still interested in an offspring I'm afraid you may have to find it. There are 36 outcomes possible for each gender, and all 72 are posted up at the top. If you see any you like, let me know here and I'll mark it down. I suspect I'll be working on this project for about 6 months, possibly more if I get side-tracked by other projects, so you have ample time to look through them.
I also added in an option that wasn't even in the running before, which would be Whiskered Dragon Mane in place of Luxurious Locks. Both are available for the project. :)

Oh wow, Xav! These are gorgeous! I can't choose XD I want both reindeer and quagga XD Don't suppose I can tempt you with trades from my own projects >>
In any case, I'd like a 5 vis with either reindeer or quagga and G3: Tri-Colored Mane, M2: Luxurious Locks, M3: Butterfly Wings. ^__^
