Well, they both have mega evolutions....both I believe have fairy types, but ORAS has Primal Evolutions and really cool intro. It's your ultimate decision.

Both are really solid and tons of fun. I enjoyed both Pokemon X and Alpha Sapphire immensely. I enjoyed AS far more but that's because of how much I loved the original Sapphire when I was younger.
The storyline changed ever so slightly to reflect the addition of mega evolution which is really better explained in X/Y. So, I would recommend getting either X or Y first and then OR or AS later down the line.
If you don't care much for the mega evolution plot then start with ORAS. That's about as much as I can say without spoilers I think.

One of the ORAS games. They are a bit harder than X and Y and have a better post game than X and Y. And you can get a lot of legendaries in these things called mirage spots and latios or Latias depending on your version that you have join your team. And you can get legit shiny legendaries and Omega ruby and alpha sapphire are so awesome and superior to X and Y
So get one of the ORAS games if you want to.

You should get ORAS in my opinion. X may have a more unique story, but ORAS has the same gameplay elements PLUS the ability to catch a butt ton of legendaries.

I like X/Y better. Mostly because it has that Looker story at the end.

I got ORAS! Not too far yet, but if you want to participate in tournaments, I would suggest ORAS, as they are the newer one.

I got AS less than a month ago and I'm thoroughly hooked on it xD Although it doesn't have much of a structured story line (It's nowhere near as strict as black and white) the freedom of being able to go pretty much anywhere is a nice change. Plus there's a lot of nice features and I expect the GTS is more active than in X&Y. So I would recommend ORAS ^^

I'm probably late lol
But I loved X/Y because of the fashion aspect. I'm big on customizability with avatars, so dressing up my trainer was probably one of the fun parts of X/Y, aside from beating everything.
OR/AS, I went along with because I liked RSE. Yes, it has more post-game stuff, but I get tired of all pokemon games aha. (not to mention you zoom through X/Y AND OR/AS with the new Exp. Share if you use it all game long)
I agree with Deathdust though, it's much easier to run into legendaries and apparently shinies. Or if you look up guides, train up a competitive team if you're into that sorta thing (I don't have time to do that, but yeah).
Secret bases and pokemon contests were my favorite part of Gen 3 (OR/AS). It stood out more to me as extra fun stuff. X/Y don't really offer much that caught my eye.
So...X/Y to look pretty, OR/AS if you want more features.
