What is the best way to get 1k+ (besides selling and missons) to buy traps?

Well, you already said the answer: missions. Missions are, in my opinion, the best way to get gold and also have a lot of other benefits like potions, elixirs, and equipment. You want to be constantly doing missions while you are on so that you build up a nice income.

Outside of missions and selling, you can also nurture lots of sylestis in order to buy pet dyes and genetic mutators with scales and then sell them for gold. Nurturing can also give you essences sometimes and you could technically sell those as well. If you go out and battle a lot, you can also sell the gear you get.

In general, though, missions are your best, most stable bet to get a steady income in order to get traps and everything else you need.

So you can't buy them from a store? How much do you need to get one and is it coins or diamonds or what?

You buy snares from the marketplaces in the cities for gold. Esiors Haven has lesser snares available for 1k each and the Sanctuary of Saerielle has both the lesser and standard snares. Standard snares allow you to catch rare sylestis in addition to the uncommons that you can catch with lesser snares and are 2.5k each. With festival coming up, I highly recommend getting some standard snares from the merchant in the festival zone if you have not unlocked the Sanctuary by then.
