"they get released into the wild"

Basically, no one will be able to use them anymore. They don't use up any more resources, but nothing can be done to or with them.

In the future, the admins are going to put in a feature where you can get your released pet back for a price. This is mostly because some people accidentally released their pets. But other than this, I don't think there is anything else planned for released pets.

Well, I think some people would disagree. You might still want to see the record of a released pets, especially if you're looking at the parentage of a current pet. (This applies especially to themed pets, but some people do like to trace the heritage of the pets they owned.)

In addition, having the records there help make it easier if/when the admins have to resolve something about the released pet (returning them to their owners in some cases), and even more so when they implement the system where players can restore their released pets by paying a fee.

But yes, it can be annoying. =P

well yea makes sense about the past generations, guess is not all that pointless haha

they should appear as enemies on the battlefield maybe, so u could attempt to catch them if u wanted.

anyways, past generations is good enough for me ^^

I would HATE it if my released pets could be found in the wild, for the very reason that Krin has said he would never do it. Some people have breeding projects and release the "failed" or the "in-between" pets because they don't want others to have them. Zarhail releases a lot of high stat project pets and I'm sure he would be furious if someone was able to catch them in the wild, just like I would be if someone could catch my project pets...

Well, people have suggested the appear in the wild bit before.

But the general reason why more people are against that is because some people purposely release their pets because they don't want others to own them. Mostly almost completed breeding projects, be it for genetic traits or stats. If others can catch their "hard work" from the wild, and use those pets for further breeding, it would lessen the value and effort the original people put in for their breeding projects.

So unless the admins can implement a system where people can choose whether their released pets can be recaught or not (which would probably be too much effort for its value), it's safer that released pets cannot be caught, and are just enjoying their freedom roaming the world. =)

interesting,,,, it does makes sense, I don't have a "project" for pets besides gettinng max stats but I have to agree of giving others the easy path by just catching ur pet.

Dunno if this was said, but there's a chance they could appear in the wild to some user.

@Babaaeyes

There is no chance a released pet can be found in the wild. true there are near look a-likes, but it should be impossible for a released pet to be found in the wild. Once released they become data in the back of the site.
