So it came up in region chat about all of the 'fakers' that look like themed pets, even though they aren't.
Why not add in a feature that announces if a pet is themed or not? For example, rather than stating:
"You have encountered an Enemy! What do you wish to do?"
it could tell you:
"You have encountered a Themed Pet! What do you wish to do?"
Or perhaps adding something a bit more obvious when the pet is first encountered on the map, like a shining effect (or glitter effect, as suggestion in region chat by Frelioan :D) on the outer edge of the image.
This would also be helpful for those who end up running away from themed pets that they aren't familiar with, and then feel that they never run into themed pets even though they've bumped into several.

Oooh, it would be awesome if they added a shimmery/glittery effect, that would make it a lot easier :3

I'm not sure how they'd code it to sparkle or glitter or something.. maybe it's possible. I do like the idea of the "You've run into a Theme Pet!" thing.. I don't usually look down there while exploring but I would if I knew it did that.

Support for the announcement change, and the image as well provided it's possible to code it. Maybe it could look like the image for essences, with the colored border around the pet?

I would definitely stop running away and/or killing themed pets if they glowed like Kata's suggestion xD
