As a newbie looking around for a few nice Sylesties, I manged to find a few I love for what I think would be very cheap prices. (1 gold and 20 gold is pretty cheap even for a common pet with few genes I think.)

I am delighted with them obviously, especially since I picked them for color and looks first, before checking their price. However in a previous breeding game I played it wasn't unusual for people to make an error and accidentally list the wrong sales price.

I'm kind of wondering if I should message the previous owners and ask if they meant to sell them for that price? Might that be a good idea? I'm totally okay with offering the pet back to it's previous owner if a mistake was made.

It's actually not that uncommon to find pets that are being sold for cheap prices like that around here. I understand your concerns though, it's easy to make a typo when pricing a pet. However, when a pet is sold, the original owner gets a notification telling them who the pet was bought by, and for how much, so if there's a problem with the pricing, they'll be able to see it and contact you if necessary, so I wouldn't worry to much. If you're unsure though, it's perfectly fine to send the owner a message and ask. :)

I've had several ask me that question about my pricing. I deliberately price some of mine low because I know what it's like being new with low funds. :) Or sometimes being an older player with low funds. I've sometimes made the error of purchasing one for the super prices only to find that I can't breed with the one I have because they are too closely related or (since I didn't know any better) that the new pet had no genetics visual or carried. I got a genetic tester now so all of mine are tested before they come to my stables or are put up for sale.

The main buyer etiquette I'm aware of on here is that it isn't polite to buy someones inexpensive pet for the purpose of re-selling that pet for a much much higher price (makes sense cause I wouldn't like if someone did that to mine). Other than that, I think you are fine. :) If a mistake was made, the owner can always contact you.

I'll be a lot less worried net time around. I just know from the previous game I played, just how easy it can be to mix up sales and breeding prices or make a typo. So I figured I'd look into it.
Accidentally loosing a pet is never fun.

Yup! They can be really rare. Wheel pets are rarer though.
