This is a thread for discussing what animals we think inspired the Sylesti. Here is a list of my thoughts:

Faelora......deer
Morkko......bear
Bulbori......bunny
Aurleon......Bird
Zolnixi......fox
Vulnyx......saber toothed cat
Quitari......horse or mule
Sylvorpa......Axolotl

That is what I think. If you have any suggestions please post them here!

The qitari seems mostly based on the horse but the scales seem to be taken from the kirin. Kirin can also mean giraffe in Japanese but this is referring to the mythical beast. In both Japan and Korea the kirin is represented as being more deerlike than the Chinese qilin they're based on. The gnarled horn as one of the mutations also seems to be taken from the mythical kirin. I almost forgot to mention that kirin also often have a tail like an ox. Many, many variations of the kirin/qilin exists. I've also heard that the Korean kirin can also be more horse-like but I haven't found any pictures yet.

Regarding the aurleon, if I recall correctly Faiona said that it's based on the phoenix.
