Technically you could figure it out with breeding, but it would be hit or miss with rng and if you don't test the offspring you'd need to have a vis trait show up. You would need to be sure to breed with a pet with the most recessive trait in the slot you are try to test and then cross your fingers that the hidden trait is passed on.

Much easier to use the free testing services others offer and save up for an unlimited tester if you are planning on doing projects.

In the Diamond Shop under the Items and Kits, section, you can buy an Exceptional Genetic Test Kit.
An Exceptional Genetic Test Kit is a kit that will give you an unlimited amount of uses and will never run out regardless of how many pets are tested. It's not one-time use, but unlimited use.
You can only have one Exceptional Genetic Test Kit on your account, and it's a permanent feature for those who own it.

Don't mistake it with the Exceptional Genetic Scanner though.
A Genetic Scanner will allow you to scan the genetics of a Sylestia you face in battle, and that Sylesti will be considered tested after that, but it cannot test pets you breed, exclusive pets, or pets you receive from other players. I also believe it doesn't test the Eggs you find in the wild, only the Sylestis you had to catch.
Genetic Scanners also serve to allow you to see things such as the stats and mana of a Sylesti(Which can be usual for pets from the Lost Grove, like this Lup, since their rarity impacts their wild stats, health, and mana). You can see the stats of the non-Sylesti enemies you face as well.
Like the Exceptional Genetic Test Kit, it has unlimited uses and is a permanent feature on your account, and only one can be bought for your account.

I hope this response helps explain.
As Faeyla mentioned, many users offer Free Genetic Testing Services, which can be found here:

Diamond shop has the Exceptional Genetic Test Kit for sale. A one-off purchase, infinite-use dealie.

The Exceptional Genetic Test Kit is the reason people can offer free testing services for people (generally at least a few people with threads offering it in the Groups, Guilds, Clubs, and Services subforum)

It is often called the 'Infinite test kit' for short.

Best purchased during a diamond sale.

(there's the Exceptional Genetic Scanner as well, which automatically scans all enemy mobs/wild sylesti upon encountering them, which reveals their stats and genetics)
