The site was too small back then I suppose. It's a game to us but it's a business to the site owners and staff. We see what's presented to us (which is a game) but behind the scenes in a business there's always hundreds of little things that players don't have to think about that the owners might. There's the amount of work the coders can do (Krin), the cost of running the site (Krin and Fai have to pay themselves to continue moving the site, there's the artists, there's the cost of the server, upgrades, etc.), there's also an insane amount of learning involved too (There are things you can learn only through experience~) and importantly, when running any business you also want to make sure you have trustworthy employees/staff.

So what it comes down to is that the site was too small for a long time (limited budget to make things happen, not enough money for a moderator that really wasn't need back then) and we had a pretty mature player base that had left other games and found a nice niche little game here. When you find a good community you want to try to keep it that way- it's easier for a smaller community to look out for itself, it's much harder when the community grows too big. It's just gotten to that point finally. Whether good or not, what's happened has happened and we can only do what we can do and the same with the site staff, learn from the experience (and fix what needs to be fixed- adding an additional moderator is a good start) and move on and try to do better.

Just to clarify, Sylestia has always had moderation. Faiona and I have always moderated the site's content. We rely a lot on players to let us know if they see suspicious or inappropriate behavior, but Sylestia has always had moderation.

The addition of Fimbry to the moderator team is just to add another person that can help handle things when Faiona and I aren't available and also for another person to be on the site for players to interact with, should they have any questions or concerns.

We are just expanding upon what has always existed from day one.
