I go around saying "Every trait is somebody's favorite trait," but I have an unfortunate suspicion it isn't true with regard to the Qitari Iridescent Scales trait--

It is overwhelming, and it obliterates any G2 trait. As far as I know, the best thing any player has to say about Iridescent Scales is that they can tolerate it in some circumstances.

The Qitari Iridescent Scales came into existence as part of the Qitari re-vamp. Then years passed. Then these wonderful iridescent traits appeared--

Lunamara Iridescent Oracle Spots, Horns, Garb, and Wings

Nephini Water Nymph Wings

Zolnixi Mermaid Myrmidon Tail and Garb

Beautiful and subtle, and these traits work nicely with each species' Genes. What's not to love?

Therefore, I suggest that the Qitari Iridescent Scales trait needs its very own revamp to make it like these new iridescent traits. (After the Faelora revamp is complete, of course.) I have great faith in Sylestia's artists. I'm certain they could revise Iridescent Scales into something beautiful and subtle that will work nicely with the Qitaries Gene Two traits.

I am fully in the camp that all mutations should show genes that normally affect those mutations (ie. scale mutations on qitaris should show scale genes), so I definitely agree with this suggestion.

As an aside, however, I actually do like iridescent scales XD I don't often use them as I tend to do 6v projects and hate 6v projects that look like 5v because of the mutation not showing traits issue, but I do like them XP

Love the idea! Even if the full genes couldn't be incorporated, at least keeping the color would be something nice. Right now that trait only works with opal-esque pastel themes/designs

i love the iridescent scales for the qitari but i dont think its fair that it overwrites the color and the G trait.

Well, Mika, everyone knows that you are exceptional, so I'm not surprised you're an exception to my statement. Personally, I think the Iridescent Scales could have smaller individual scales, with each one having a base color that corresponds to the color that would be on that Scale if the Qitari didn't have the Iridescent Scales trait. Sort of how the Tiger's Eye trait looks on Bulbories.

I'm with Spelf on this one. They're very pretty but they honestly look kind of clunky now compared to everything else.

i absolutely agree with that idea, i vaguely remember that i was looking forward to see how that trait would look like pre-revamp only to be desapointed by the miss-oportunity to make it blend in. Dividing it in two trait, a g2 that give an irridescent / cristal look to the scales as well as the mutation that change the form of the qitari's scale to be more gem likes could also be a good way to handle the whole g2 issue, it woudnt be the first time a gene/mutation was splitted after a revamp.

here's some bad edits I did uuhhhh a few years back for some other thread. Concept "irridescent scales showing the c2 colour/comparison". It's not a very GOOD 'concept art' but it conveys the thought at any rate?
