I curl up in a ball, rocking back and forth. First Andrew, and now Spirit. I can't protect anyone. I don't deserve friends. I am a bad person. A little whimper escapes me, but I no longer care. I am a weak, desperate person who isn't strong enough to protect her friends. Angry at myself, I get up and run. I run and run without stopping. I don't heed the acid burning my paws, or my shortage of breath. I can only run.

Elissa ignored the others. She just focused on trying to move the rocks. She ran out breath and her fingers were bleeding, but at least she had something to focus on. She shoved the last rock, but it refused to budge so she threw her entire body weight against it. Still, it wouldn't move. She growled in frustration and kept throwing herself against the boulder.

Jackson shook his head and dropped to Elissa's side. He knew there was nothing they could do to help, but he would do whatever he could to make her feel even a little better. Joining her, he threw his weight on the boulder.

I speed up, kind of wishing for someone to follow me, but I forcefully shove the thought out of my mind, and, not looking where I am going, run headfirst into a tree. I plop down, a red burst of light in my eyes, and everything going hazy. I feel myself become human, and don't care. I don't care about anything anymore.

He looked around for Maya. Noticing she wasn't in sight, he turned into a wolf and sprinted off in the direction of her scent.
He was tired when he finally reached her, and stayed in wolf form.

Elissa paused for a second, breathing hard. She turned to look at Jackson. "Hey, thanks. I know it's useless-" she cut herself off and shoved the boulder again. "But I just uh- thanks," she said, giving up on trying to find the right words.
