Echo turned her attention to Snekly.
"That's a good question actually. Normally, I would brag about how I have anything anyone would possibly need." She laughed.
"Watermelons are one of the few exceptions though. They're not native to these woods. Regular sweet melons, sure, they're about as common as dirt. But watermelon? You'd need to go at least 3 days south for that."
Echo stretches, her spine popping. "No one has ordered watermelon in a while, so I'm out of stock. Even if someone did, melons in general spoil very easily, so there was no way for me to have a good melon for about a month"
"That's one of the reasons Strawberry was definitely murder. The watermelon was imported by someone, and," Echo turned, glaring at everyone, "whoever it was didn't go through me-"
"Which is really unfair, y'all! I know someone got killed, but still!! I pride myself on fast delivery and quality products, and the murderer didn't even have the courtesy to order the dang melon from me!"
As Echo speaks, the fur on Niki's back begins to stand on end. She had just begun to trust Echo again, but Niki now thinks she seems rather quick to defend herself when nobody is saying anything. Niki takes a deep breath and flops onto her side. She seems to be oddly nocturnal these days.
She shuts her eyes to get in a quick nap.

Niki stretches slightly, nodding.
"I'm just tired. My sleep schedule has been off as of late, with me traveling so much," she says, smiling slightly but not opening her eyes.

Echo yawned, her teeth glittering in the dim lights of the courtroom.
"I'll tell you later, as soon as all this is over, but just to stop you from worrying for now, it's nothing bad or illegal." She tipped her head at the Mayor. "At least, I think it's not illegal. Definitely not bad though"

Echo rolled over onto her back, moving her tail to hide her stomach. She could feel the tension in the room rise with every passing second.
"Well," she finally said out loud, "we aren't really getting anywhere right now.
I decide not to vote at all, because I don't know enough to vote just yet. Everyone here is a friendly neighbor and a potential customer, so I also think it would be rude to vote them out. Besides," she shifted, looking at everyone, "I'm sure we all have things to do. As horrible as the murder of Strawberry is, we can't do anything unless we gather more information."
She turned to the mayor "Come to think of it, what happens when someone is voted out?"

"I did say they get put to death," the mayor says, turning to Echo, having been watching the discussion intently. "The law dictates that we need a majority of people in order to do so, but it is imperative that we permanently try to be rid of the murderer as soon as possible."
