They rest on the floor like normal chair legs. They don't appear to be attached in any manner. The one you are examining is made out of what looks like glass tinted black, or maybe navy blue, you can't really tell. Silver specks shine within, and the edges are gilded with silver. The back is made out of metal in the shape of a silver and gold hourglass.
