Nothing happens, the words just sit there. Maybe you should try another approach.

"Of course!"
She hands you a card that looks like a normal hotel card key, all black with the words Avia Exploration written on it in gold, much like the guidebook.
She heads down a hallway off to the right that you hadn't noticed before, all lined with wooden doors that have a number plaque next to them, and stops at number 918.
"Just wave your card in front of it and knock three times to enter."

She stops to look at the plants while waiting already for whatever might come from the direction of the rustling shouting. Hello anyone there?

I yell at the book. "Ahem, excuse you. Yes, I would like to know more about the Avia." I raise an eyebrow.

There's a pause, and then text begins spreading down the page again.

Avia are very shy and will always choose to flee if it is possible. The only exception is if they are defending something, or are cornered, and they can be very aggressive, often scratching and pecking with enough vigor to scare off most other creatures, although they have no known predators. They are very agile and swift, and there are no records of an Avia ever being caught. There is, however, one known means for attracting and studying them.

In order to attract an Avia, there are four basic things you should need. Food, a resting place, a light source, and a gift of some kind.
Although it is unknown what makes up the complete diet of an Avia, it seems that they are averse to meat of any kind, and may consider that an offense. The food preferences seem to differ from Avia to Avia, but use rarer, higher quality food for best results.
A resting place should be fairly easy to construct, most Avia seem to prefer something soft, small, and hidden. As Avia are flying creatures, ensure that the resting place is above the ground, possibly in a tree, although there are a few records of Avia that came to nests on the ground. It should be not easily spotted from the ground, whether camouflaged or out of sight. Do not attempt to rig a trap near or at the resting place, as it is a guarantee that an Avia will not visit.
For unknown reasons, Avia are very attracted to sources of light, whether this be natural or artificial light. If you hide the nest in a such a way that very little sunlight gets through, consider purchasing a lantern or finding another light source. Otherwise, sunlight should do just fine.
Most importantly, all Avia will want a gift of some kind to interest them in the resting place. This should be unique and attention grabbing, although preferences may vary.
After you have set up a suitable resting place, immediately leave and do not tread within a half of a mile radius around it for around twelve hours. If you come back too quickly, you may startle the Avia, but if you come back too late, it may already have left. If you time yourself just right, you may be able to catch (not literally) the Avia just before they leave, which is the perfect time to observe them, as they are not hiding in the nest.
You may be able to encounter an Avia elsewhere as you explore, but this is rather unlikely and they are more likely to flee.

When you do find an Avia, you may attempt to interact with them. Do not make any sudden movements or loud noises, as you will startle them away. Be aware that it may take several tries to earn their trust, but the next time, you might find an egg waiting for you.

The text stops there, as it has run out of space on those two pages.

Your voice is the loudest thing in the forest, but it still seems almost quiet and empty. The rustling stops. Perhaps you scared whatever was there away.

You open the door into a huge hotel suite. One wall is entirely glass, and looks out over an endless ocean, with several small, rocky-looking islands in the distance. The plush bed and sofa nearby look like they're begging you to flop on them, and there are two hallways leading out, presumably to the kitchen and bathroom. Even the pristine white carpet looks like you could just lie down and take a nap on it.

You turn around, but Elysse has disappeared.
