Josh and I finally reach my extensive cave system, the entrance so hidden even I have to look for it a bit. We head to my bedroom and curl up to sleep together, still in animal form. I am never losing my brother again.

"Don't bother trying to lift him yet. Asher and I met the day after I ran away from the forest, when I found my family's *shudder* bodies. He took me in and helped me get over the PTSD I had back then. We were in a really close relationship. He was the best thing that ever happened to me. He was crushed by the man who injured Spirit. He died a year ago. I have been searching for other halfbreeds since then, trying to forget my past." I feel good to get it out of me, but a fresh wave of pain surges into me, and I black out. It's too much.

Lantana:she saw the Giant Fox's friend try to lift the body of the younger one...she felt mad at her mother for hurting an innocent child,well she had done it multiple times.Not seeing that Maya and her friend were talking ,she trotted over to them and asked"Do you guys want some help buying him?" she asked looking at the poor kids pale face...

Jackson looked up, his face pale. He staggered backwards. He couldn't carry Maya and Andrew! But this newcomer was potentially dangerous...

Lantana saw his worried expression"I'm only ere to fix my mother's mistakes"and to hide from her she thought"I can carry both of them.."she finished

I drift in and out of consciousness. Suddenly, the pain stops. I feel a strange tingling. I can't tell if I am awake or not. I hesitantly open my eyes. I see Asher standing over me, smiling. I feel a little trickle of tears down my face, but they are of relief. I stretch my hand out, but he doesn't take it. I sit up. There is a strange glint in his eyes. I don't like it. He suddenly pulls out a dagger, handing it to me, saying,
"Join us Maya. You can be happy with me again." He smirks at me, as if he knows a hidden secret. I don't know what it is, but I am suddenly afraid. I wake up, gasping. My arm snaps into place, and I feel the bone knot. Some of my cuts knit together. I don't know how it happened. I guess I have special powers or something. I don't know. I feel a fresh trickle of blood down my arm, and I look at it. There is a strange rune looking mark on my arm. I look up at Jackson, one of my eyebrows quirked.

Blue saw Maya and began to tear up. "Poor Maya.." she said quietly.
