I've never really liked mushrooms, but it is the answer. As always, pick your pet =)

There was a tough green house. Inside the tough green house there was a thin white house. Inside the thin white house there was a big red house. Inside the big red house there were lots of babies. What is it?

It's a Watermelon :3
You have the big hard Green Shell that covers a thin white layer which covers the Red Fruit inside. Inside the red fruit it harbours a ton of little black seeds.
