Other wolves howl back, and they sound close.

I slow down to see if I can see any wolves.

Lokin and Saffron
Saffron runs over to where Lokin is standing, and, tails wagging they greet each other. "I'm so relived your alright!" Saffron exclaims before Lokin says "Thank goodness you are okay." They blink and laugh a bit.
Lokin gestures for Saffron to look behind him. "Look at what Iv'e been up too." He says proudly. She goes over and sniff the big mound. "A whole deer! All by yourself? That's amazing Lokin!"
He grins at her "I know right? Got this nice bruise to show for it."
"What? Lokin you need to be more careful."
"I'm fine honestly, couldn't be more happy with this kill."
Saffron sniffs at his bruise. "It's big but you'll be fine."
Lokin smirks at her. "Like I didn't already know that."
Saffron rolls her eyes at him. "What else have you been doing?"
"I ran into Ruthless a while back, we split up to look for more of our pack, but I got distracted with this deer...."
"He was okay too though?" Saffron asks
"Yeah he was fine. We set a rendezvous point, but clearly I couldn't drag a whole deer there."
"You should come back with me. I found Lethal, but she's in a bad state. We can go get Ruthless later." Saffron tells him.
Lokin's eyes widen with concern, "What? What happened?"
"Its her leg," Saffron says, "She shattered it. She's going to be a cripple for the rest of her life."
Lokin take a minute to ponder this. "How did she break it?"
"She tripped and broke it, and the when she tried walking on it gain, it shattered."
"That's horrible!" Lokin exclaims
"Tell me about it" Saffron says sadly. "I cleaned it up, but that's all I could do for it. She has water, and some moonwolves gave her some food, so she's as okay as she can be right now."
"Wait wait wait, what?" Lokin gives her a puzzled look. "You said Moonwolves fed her?"
"When I found her she was with them. They didn't hurt her, and we've kind of agreed to temporary peace."
Lokin stares at her, mouth slightly open. "I've believed a lot of insane things, but I didn't even imagine that. Your kidding me right?"
Saffron continues cautiously, judging his reactions. "I'm serious. They've been helpful, and I think peace is the best thing right now."
Lokin snaps his mouth closed. "Oooookay then."
It's Saffron's turn to laugh at him now, "Alright mouse breath, lets haul your deer back to Lethal and the others. Yes, I can smell the mouse on your breath."
Lokin smirks, "It was before the deer. Aren't I the mightiest hunter?"
Saffron nips his ear playfully, "Okay Mr. Hunter, but you got nothin' on my battle skills."
"Alright alright, I know your stronger than me." He submits playfully.
And with that, the two of them grab the deer and drag it back to Lethal and the two moonwolves.
