You are able to do a fair job and the patient reassures the little girl, even making her giggle and look at you with less wariness. After a couple more times, the merman only needs to occasionally watch over you without having to jump in.

+ Medical Knowledge - You have learned how to treat burns

"We're finally finished," he says.

"Sure are. I feel bad for these folks, but I'm guessing the council had caught wind of this and will send more people to help out. I'm going to head back home now, take care you two," the mermaid says before leaving.

"Take care! Well, I should probably head back to Uniari with her, seeing as I don't have enough time to go all the way around to my home on land. Are you going to be alright on your own?"

I smile at the man. "I think so," I tell him assuredly. Even if the strange people from earlier are still out and about..... somehow I think I can hold my own, at least against a couple of them. It's not like I haven't before. "Have a safe journey home, and thank you for helping us out."

(yes.
Also I put the third conversation so you'd have a job offer oopsies.
idk why i made this person so cynical, but here)

The one who needed a delivery boy looks at you with contempt. The other seems to be a bit annoyed, but waits quietly as the former talks. "You should mind your own business more often, boy." He starts picking at his nails as he carries on, "But if you must know, Omar dreamed of getting the artifacts of all the lost temples. I told him that it's all been done before by countless others that had been far more knowledgeable and equipped than him, but his head always had the tendency of being as thick as crocodile's skin." He returns his gaze to you. "Is that enough for you?"

(Heh. Amusing.
Heh mk. 2, when you take something in a completely different way than was planned >:3)

I shrug, meeting his hostile gaze. "If you didn't want your conversation to be heard by strangers, you wouldn't have come here," I spread my arms to gesture to the people all around.

I squint at him, a rough plan forming in my head. "Tell me. How much effort and money would it take for you to go out of your way to find another delivery boy? Especially in comparison to the small fee I would humbly accept to talk the one you already have out of doing something foolish?"

I wait, my sharp avian gaze gauging his reaction to see if I have a bite.

You're in Pompodis where the statues of former Ensol Aminus and looming grey buildings overlook the country. Big clouds cover the sky and graze tall buildings which some wax winged dived into for fun.

It seems like tomorrow would be a day of snow, sermon, and relaxation for the people of Pompodis. Everyone seemed happier about the upcoming break as they went through their day. This didn't prevent those who guessed about your avian heritage on looking down on you during this carefree day, but to most you looked like a wax winged and nobody was really bothering you about it today.

Right now, you don't have any responsibilities or obligations to tend to and could do whatever you wished with your time.

(Does she still live with her parents? the edit was just to make it look less chonky)

(Nah, she doesn't)

I shrug off the disdain I receive and spread my wings. I take to the skies, enjoying the feel of the wind rushing through my feathers, and fly deeper into the country. Looking down, I search for any interesting places where I can touch down and have a look around.

"Same to you," he says and waves good bye as he walks away.
The situation on the ravaged street seemed to have calmed. Some buildings were still burning and debris littered the floor, but they're being take care of. From what you could see, the strange people seemed to have their fill of fun and had left.

Do you wish to skip to the morning or test if you actually can hold against a couple of criminals?

(Keep in mind that your character currently has no combat skills. The second option might give him some and/or injuries.)

He considers your offer with a slightly amused expression. "It would be something of a small miracle if you managed to do so. Very well, if you can persuade him, I will pay you 10 debens."

10 debens should be enough to feed you for around a week. Granted, your diet would probably consist of mainly koshary to last that long, but you would still be fed.

He points north of the meeting place.

"You should be able to find him near Adom's home. His black cat with its scaly tail is always laying at the front door and hissing at people, so you won't have trouble finding it. Omar will be carrying some bottles of palm wine over there. You can tell it's him with the scar that runs along his check and his grey and orange feathers."

I look at the destruction, shuddering a little. I could attempt to leave the crowd, but where exactly would I go, and how safe would it be? Either way, it's not worth venturing from the slight safety-in-numbers the crowd provides with the meager promise of a more private place to shelter. I guess I'll just camp here for the night.

(You know the classic. "You enter the tavern." "Who's there?" "A mysterious bartender who will advance the plot." "Anyone else?" "Uh... Pinky... the goblin..." "Let's go and talk to Pinky!")

I decide I'd better not push it by asking for a small deposit. A week's worth of food or a ninth of a camel is a very generous offer... unless I'm being sent on an errand he doubts I'll be able to complete. Either way, I'm doing something that I need to do and that pays money as well - it's an offer I can't refuse.

"Sounds like a deal," I nod, offering my hand for him to shake. I've seen traders doing this before, and hope it comes across as polite. "Where can I find you once I've convinced him of how foolish his adventure is?"

There was a bakery that was selling baked goods and a variety of special confections which was being visited by an Archian you have seen before and his giggly orphaned nieces and nephews. You almost miss someone hidden on a rooftop that was looking at them malevolently. It's quite obvious they have less than good intentions.

(Do I have money right now?)

I land near the bakery, acting as if I hadn't noticed the figure, and walk up next to the Archian. The sweet aroma wafts towards me as I look over some of the bakery's desserts. I decide to wait for him to finish ordering his items before I tell him about the individual watching him.
