It's because ads are looking at cookies. the bits and chips sites use to track data. they store pictures so things load faster and other such things. (if anyone has a more detailed explanation then go ahead)

so if you're a chef looking at recipes you might see sales for food..in your case prom dress ads. and they'll also oust someone unaware of how ads work who 'stumbles' (yeah right) onto the naughty sites. (those old enough to know what those are know what i mean)


as for ads...i'm sorry it's come to those but I've been expecting it for a while now. sylestia has been getting a bigger fanbase for a long while. i'm sure veterans still remember how our joy used to crash the site during the festivals,yes? and the servers needed to keep those crashes from happening are not cheap..nor are artists. and lots of things have been getting redone or made. i don't wish to see this site collapse like eryna did so ads are a necessary evil.

that being said I myself will be keeping adblocker on cause i always lag or get that one ad that is too stupidly annoying or has a virus.

I used to not care about ads honestly (if they showed up on the main sites I enjoyed and used frequently), and I use the AdBlockers that I have for audio ads from other 3rd party sites.

I will greatly consider removing AdBlocker once I start using Sylestia more often (whee hiatus status), but I always liked Sylestia as it is: non-membership when it comes to benefits. I despise freemium games (despite their allure), but perhaps pro-membership games more.

Hit the adblocker button in the upper right. Hit 'exclude this domain'.

One thing I've always thought was weird was that this free site DIDN'T have ads! It's become so commonplace because of the costs of running a site. Though I agree that some sites overdue it, and then they're are sites that are essentially just ads (clickbait articles).

I have no issue with a few ads here and there. It's a very minor annoyance to generate potentially a lot of revenue towards development.

Is it possible to have an ad page with like 10 ads just so I can go refresh there a bunch of times to generate some more? :)

Just a note, incase someone has not mentioned it.

Neopets made the mistake of not filtering the adverts that the banners displayed and it ended up showing non-family friendly adverts. I suggest there is a heavy filter done to stop the same thing happening here. Especially if you are allowing Animated Banner adverts.

I'm a little bummed... Not because you have ads, I've heard and understand the logic. But because at least half of the ads aren't showing for me and I don't have any adblocker or anything. Either it says that it cant show because of some blocker or it loads an ad on top of the thing while still saying that I have ads disabled... It makes me worry that your not getting anything from me because my browser is wonky about pop-ups and stuff because it's the IE app.

i use adblock to do other things too for example blocking commet chat if i dissable for sylestia those things ive blocked for a long time will come back i also block the sort all tabs button so i dont mess up my sort

The "Sylestia Ad Space" message loads regardless and will always load first (b/c it's just plain text). The Ads then load on top of the ad space.

Sounds like maybe your ads are just taking a bit of time to load?
