It hasn't been more than five minutes since *insert person closest to you* started going crazy. Hissing, screeching, attacking you. You ran, of course. What else could you do? You couldn't attack them. So you had to run for your life. It was only when you were safe- from them, that is- that you realized you had nowhere to go.

You are standing next to a moderately busy road, cars zoom past you a high speeds - possibly people trying to escape the so-called 'disease'. Looking around, you realize you are at the edge of a small town - but you have no idea where you are.
Close to your north lies the main section of the town, you spot a few people walking here and there, if the disease has reached here, it doesn't seem to have affected many people yet.
The road to your south leads out of the town, you spot a sign that reads, '3 km to Sutter Airport'.
To your east is the road.
And to your west is a small row of shops.
Which direction do you wish to go?

Making sure the knife I carry is hidden, I travel towards the shops to try and gather supplies for the rest of the journey.

You squint at the signs on the shops you're approaching. The three nearest ones read, 'Grocery Depot', 'Happy Cake Bakery', and 'Bibliophile Bookstore'.
As you head closer to the shops, you see a family of four running out of the 'Happy Cake Bakery'.
Nothing to worry about, right?

Deciding to avoid the family just in case, I head to the Bibliophile Bookstore. Maybe I will find some information that can be helpful.

The wind chimes attached to the large wooden door tinkle happily as you push it open and enter the bookstore.
(ignore that random person in the picture)
It's a cozy-looking place, books line the floor-to-ceiling shelves. But something's off. It's abnormally quiet, every sound, so matter how soft, practically echoes throughout the entire store. There doesn't seem to be anyone in the store and the counter is abandoned.
What do you do?

I do my best to ignore the eery quiet and browse the shelves cautiously, checking over my shoulder every few seconds to make sure I'm not attacked.

You're in the 'Reader Recommended' section, with books from just about every genre, suiting every taste. A book titled 'The Sylesti Guidebook' catches your eye, but as you reach for it, you hear a loud crash from the back of the shop.
(By the way, you're not in Sylestia, but there are Sylesties in this world, as well as regular animals, however, Sylesties are thought to be mythical creatures.)

I quickly swipe the book off the shelf and sneak/stumble to check out the crash.
