Oleander's frown deepened. He could hear activity throughout the forest, but could not pinpoint where. The figure, real or imaginary, still stood in front of him. He took a few steps forwards before collapsing, no falling, through some sort of door/portal thingy that he hadn't noticed before.

He landed on an airy pile of fluffy snow, in a strange room. There were others as well, looking up at some sort of portrait. Silently, he went to stand behind them.
