Oleander woke with a start, panting and covered in sweat. He leaned back against the tree he was settled by, sighing deeply and frowning. What a weird dream! There had been figures claiming to be "gods of fate" telling him about the strange stone he'd found, and his supposed destiny.

She let the tears in her eyes fall. Lily practically sounded like one of the cars that took her father away when she was little. Animals scurried out of her way as she moved. Eventually she tripped and fell into a clearing. Lily curled up, bugging her knees to her chest.
