Day Three - Continued (III)
Kit settles down on the bed next to you as you reach for the third tape. You pick a few bits of grass from it, and then flick the green button on the side.
At first, there is only whirring, but then the audio picks up.
"Aurleon Log, day twenty-eight. Fledglings, parents have just...disappeared. The nest is still intact, no signs of violence or predators. I just can't...
He trails off. It is silent, but the tape is still rolling.
"Can you hear that?" Riv says in a barely audible tone.
More silence.
"Nothing. No sounds. Not even an insect. And the air...heavy again."
Silence in the forest is one thing that you know doesn't happen. There is always life buzzing about somewhere, no matter the hour. Even in winter, when the sounds of life are muted, there is still something creating noise somewhere.
"No, no- wait... Don't know if the tape can hear this."
There is some shuffling; you assume Riv has maneuvered the tape to better catch whatever noise is about.
It sounds like... Well, you aren't sure. It's a faint...popping sound? of some sort. As the recording continues, it gets louder, clearer. Deep and guttural, increasing in frequency.
"Coming from all directions." Riv sounds almost panicked. "Everywhere I turn looks the same. Just the doors."
The popping sound is shifting into what sounds like a high-pitched whine, which crescendos into the most terrible wail you've ever head. Kit jumps behind you, started. Riv shouts something you can't quite make out, and then, just as you can't bear to hear it anymore, it all comes to an abrupt stop. The tape spits out silence for a bit, and then gradually, the sounds of the forest return. You do not hear Riv's voice again.
The tape ends.
Whatever had made that wail- you'll call it the most original name of Wailer, for now- is what took Riv, you're sure of it. Perhaps it is what made the holes in Eshmelle. Your mind tries to conjure up an image of what if might look like, but comes up with nothing.
Listen to tape one OR two

Day Three - Continued (IV)
You pick up the first tape, the one that had previously been lying on top.
"Aurleon Log, day twenty-six," Riv's voice speaks. "Second set of hatchlings are fledging, and the parents arent too pleased with my presence."
In the background, you can hear the alternating calls of what you assume are the Aurleons. This continues for a few minutes until Riv resumes speaking.
"Nesting site appears to be clear of predators, but the third door this week has justpopped up beneath their tree. Others are older, wooden. This one is black, the knob is missing. Never paid much mind to these things; the other wardens ignore them as well."
Other wardens. Why hadn't you thought of that earlier? You make a mental note to find means of contacting them.
"Don't care much for the others, but this one just seems a bit off. Can't place it. Aurleons won't go within a ten foot radius. The closer I get," he says, his footsteps crunching in the background, "the worse it gets. Feels like the air pressure is increasing, or something is just pressing down. Don't like it."
The tape ends.
Listen to tape two OR search for a way to contact wardens first

A hot breeze, stifling and bringing with it the scent of smoke, envelopes you. The air seems to buzz with energy, and then, in a brilliant flash of golden light, a female Nytekrie appears.
~Bonewalker~
"Want a little something, kid?" Bonewalker raises a clawed hand, an egg materializing in a flash of yellow.
"Just guess my lucky number. I'll give you a hint. 1-100. What, too broad for ya? Kekekeke, too bad..."
The first player to guess Bonewalker's number correctly or as closely as possible will recieve a ping with the prize. You may submit multiple guesses. Please remember to ping.
