:3 So, after another unannounced hiatus, I decided to write another chapter today. Here is Chapter 19. Enjoy.

Chapter 19
Darkening Waters

Sam looks up at the darkening sky, I better make this quick, they thought.

They get to the heart of the town and turn left, then walk up to a wide building with double doors. They walk inside and see a man at a desk writing on some papers. Not the white printer paper, more like parchment.

Sam walks up to the desk, "Excuse me sir, are there any jobs available?" they asked in their strangely feminine voice.

The man looks up at them and points to a single paper on the wall that says, "Job wanted: Salt collector at the Serta Docks".

Perfect, "Alright, thank you. Have a good evening," they turn around and walk out the door.

After a few uneventfully minutes of walking to the docks, they sea* a man standing by some barrels, looking out at the sea.

(*Bu-dum-tss XD)

"Hello, I am here for the job," Sam announces as they walk onto a dock.

The man turns his head in surprise, "What? Oh yes, that. Thank you for accepting the position." He turns around and goes up to shake their hand, "The name's Andy Kerrib. Nice to meet you."

"Like wise."

Andy goes behind the barrels and takes out some strange and complex tools. "You'll need these," he told Sam.

Sam purses their lip, I don't know how to use that, what even is it? they thought.

Andy goes to exit the dock, he stops and turns to Sam, "I'll be back to check on your progress." He then continues to leave.

Sam waits until he is a couple yards away. They turn towards the open sea, the setting sun makes the water bright pink and orange.

They look back at the tools, Sam isn't even going to try to understand how it works. Instead, they kneel down and put their hand in the water. They also reach under the blanket with their other hand and touch Roch's handle.

As Sam stirred the water, white particles swirled around their hand and it slowly built up.

After another couple of uneventful minutes of collecting salt, most of the barrels got filled. Sam decided to stop it there. Besides, they had other things to do.

Sam takes out Roch but keeps Brander covered. They put Brander between some barrels, no one will think to look there.

They, sort of regretted not bringing the Princess with them so she could guard Brander, but what are they going to do about it, really.

They quickly put on their tunic, leggings, and hat. They stand at the edge of the dock and look down at the water below them. Sam takes out a round, pearl-pink pendent from under their shirt and examine it. Hopefully it still works.

After a few more moments of thinking, they finally jump into the water, feet first. And as their head went below the water, a magic pink bubble forms around their head. Sam smiles, it still works after all these years.

Sam's feet touch the bottom, it was really dark, but they knew where to go anyway.

They started walking/swimming in a seemingly random direction.

Oh dang, it's been six days since I posted Chapter 19. .3. It felt a lot longer than that. X3 Oh well, time for Chapter 20. Enjoy! :3

Chapter 20
Goated Out

Sam continues to stroll along the shallow part of the ocean, phosphorescent sea life aiding them in their travel to their destination. They stare at the glowing seaweed bunches and coral reefs, they always loved the glow of bio-luminescent organisms and found it beautiful and mysterious.

"Don't forget about your goal," Roch reminded them.

Sam's mind snaps back to reality, "S-sorry," they apologized and continued moving forward with pangs of longing in their heart as they tore their gaze away from the reefs.

As they continued striding along the ocean floor, the water gets darker as the sky above them gets dimmer, and as it gets dimmer, the visible stars dance as tiny waves roll to shore. I should come here more often, Sam thought with a smile.

Ahead, they see a structure with glowing lights, as they got closer they saw more details, ancient markings and all. They look up at the top of the structure and see a horse that is rearing up engraved onto the large frame of the entrance. They final came to The Temple of Taki. Sam thought it was a painfully generic name, and wondered who came up with that. Oh wait... never mind, Sam remembered who named it and continued inside.

Sea-foam colored lanterns hang from the ceiling of the temple by chains, lighting the columns of royal blue Spectrolite and floors of green and white Ocean Jasper.

"She has good taste in gemstones," Sam pointed out.

"Indeed," Roch agreed.

Meanwhile

Karant looks over at Zinna, who was leaning on the wall of a stone building, "Why do I suddenly feel really annoyed?"

Zinna shrugs.

Back To The Story

Sam gets to a big, round room in the center of the temple. The full moon shines through the stained glass roof, (at least, it looks like stained glass,) and shines upon a silvery item on a pedestal.

They walk toward it cautiously, they have already met the guardian here before and they wouldn't want to have to fight them again.

A goat's bleat echos.

Sam freezes, ... Well shoot.

Suddenly, they feel a heavy weight slam their back and pin them to the floor.

"You are foolish to come back here, 'warrior'," a voice bleated.

Sam lets out a sigh, "Brooks, really? Are you still butt hurt after what happened last time?"

The weight presses down harder, Sam inhales sharply.

"No, I'm not," Brooks bleated, "But seeing you here again did bring back some feelings of hatred."

"I didn't even get a chance to explain why I came," Sam pointed out.

"I don't care, whatever it may be. All I care about is keeping Taki out of the hands of filthy thieves like you," he spat.

A column of Jasper stone shoots up next to Sam and the weight was lifted from their back. They get up and the column sinks down to it's original spot, they turn around and look at the teal green Capricorn-like creature on the ceiling, he looks dazed.

"You don't understand, there is a great threat looming-" Sam tried to explain.

Brooks charged at them, "I, don't, care!" he interrupted.

Sam quickly holds up Roch in a defensive position, Brooks' horns collide with the hammer's shaft.

"Why wont you listen!? You're so stubborn!"

Brooks glares at them and swishes his fish-like tail faster, pushing Sam backward.

Sam is alarmed by this. They quickly step to the side, making Brooks collide onto a pillar. "The world is in great peril! You have to stop and listen!" they persisted.

Brooks turns to them, "No!" he bleated as he charged at Sam again.

They raise Roch again, preparing for another blow, "If you keep this up, there wont be a temple for you to guard anymore! Everything with perish!"

Brooks stops as he was about to collide with them and stares at them, wide-eyed with realization. "W-what!?"

Oh my gosh, that worked! Sam's heart was beating out of their chest, they lower Roch. "Y-you heard me. If the world goes, so does this temple. And the world needs the Four Weapons and it's Guardians by the Chosen's side to save it. If you don't let me find Taki's Chosen, she wont have a temple for you to protect."

A few tiny bubbles come out of Brooks' nostrils as his eyes narrow in suspicion. "How do I know you are telling the truth?"

"Hello Brooks," Roch greets in a casual tone.

Brooks looks at the hammer, "Roch? You're awake? How?" He thinks for a moment then looks at Sam. "Oh. You're his Chosen? That explains a lot."

Sam resisted the erge to face-palm, because that would probably pop their magic air bubble. "So, you'll come with us?"

"Yeah, I am! No way I'm letting anyone or anything destroy my duty!"

Sam snorts, Hehe, 'duty', they thought. "Alright, lets go then!" They glance at the pedestal, Taki is nowhere to be seen. Their eyes widen. "Uh, Brooks. Did you move her to somewhere else?"

Brooks follows their gaze and widens his eyes, "No..."

Sam and Brooks exchanged glances and swam out of the temple as fast as they could.

This hiatus has gone on long enough! Two months without the light of my refined literature, it burdens me just thinking about it. But fear no longer! For the author is here!

X3 Yeah... Im, not good with intros. .3. Also I got my glasses on April 26. TwT Finally, I can see far away, its so clear now. :3 And my clearer vision made more confident... ^^' Somehow.

Danny: Um, yeah, that's great and all. But...

Chapter 21
Raging Waters

Sam and Brooks rush out of Taki's Temple, the water slowing Sam down letting Brooks who was naturally adapted to the water to rush ahead. Sam tries to shift the Jasper under their feet to give them some sort of friction to push against, put that proved to be more exhausting than just simply forcing their way through the water.

When Sam finally does make it out of the temple, they see Brooks swimming after two dark figures.

"Get back here you no-good-thieving bandits or I will personally rip off your fins and feed you to the Leviathan!" Sam heard him bleat. They also notice that they are heading directly towards a rock-face.

They think they know what the shadows are trying to do, "Brooks, wait!"

He doesn't listen and continues to chase the two shadow toward the rock.

The two shadows seem to dissipate into the rock upon contact, this alarms Brooks and he tries to stop himself from hitting the rock, but fails and his horns thud onto the rock. He sinks onto the sand, dazed.

Sam hears a crumbling and sees a huge boulder falling towards Brooks. "Get out of there!"

Brooks didn't seem to hear them, he didn't move from his spot.

Sam thought in a panic, Gosh darn it, Brooks! They did the first thing that came to mind. They swiped up with Roch in the direction of the falling rock, a trail of sand follows the hammer head. They then quickly point at the boulder with two fingers and the trail of sand that was created thinned out and zoomed toward the boulder. Just before the boulder struck Brooks, it was sliced in half by the sand. The two halves land next to Brooks' left and right.

Sam sighs in relief and rushes over to Brooks, "Are you alright?" they ask in concern.

"No, I'm not alright! They took Taki!" Brooks screams as they whip around to face Sam, "If you hadn't come here, Taki would still be in her temple!" He glares at them, partly derpy from being dazed.

Sam's gut tightens reflexively at the blind accusation. "Brooks," they said in a dangerously calm tone, "blaming me won't get you Taki back. In fact, standing here doing nothing will only make getting Taki back more difficult." They put their head up high enough just to make eye-contact with Brooks. "And seeing that you ignoring my warning nearly cost you your life, I suggest you start thinking before you end up killing yourself after a vain attempt to rip someone to shreds."

Brooks' expression changed from stressed and angry to surprised.

Sam lower's their gaze, "Now lets go. We've wasted enough time here," they finished as they turned to the way they came. They hear the whooshing sound of Brooks swimming behind them. Their gut loosens after taking a deep breath.

There was an awkward silence between them, neither of them attempted to make a conversation, even Roch was silent, but that's normal since he doesn't talk much anyway.

They finally get to the docks. Sam walks out onto the sand and the magic bubble giving them air pops. They quickly change out of their leather clothes exposing the slightly wet cotton clothes underneath, and wraps up Roch.

They hear Brooks come out of the water. They turn around and see Brooks with four legs instead of two front legs and a fish tail.

"Oh wow, I didn't know you can do that," Sam says with a chuckle.

"Neither did I," Brooks bleated, "I'm glad I don't have to drag myself around."

Sam climbs up onto the dock, holding Roch under their right arm, and walks up to where they hid Brander and Princess Nya. "You two still there?"

No response.

Sam looks into the hiding spot and sees Nya sleeping on Brander's scabbard. They sigh and chuckle softly. They pick them both up gently and cradles them in their arms.

Brooks looks an Nya and Brander with narrowed eyes, "Unbelievable. How did she become a Guardian with her level of competence?"

"Like the rock calling the anvil, 'dense'*," Sam retorted.

(*Kettles weren't invented in this world yet, so I had to change the saying to make it fit. :P Original saying: "Like the pot calling the kettle, 'black'.")

Brooks scrunches up his nose at Sam, but says nothing.

Sam chuckles, then glances at the empty barrels. They see something sparkling beside them. "Hm?" They walk over to see a couple silver and copper coins. He must've come back while I was gone, Sam thought, then picked up the coins with one hand, still holding Nya and Brander, and put the coins in their pockets. "Alright, lets get going."

Chapter 22
Not The Bees

The oaks dapple the grass with shadows made by the afternoon sun, a cool breeze plays with Sam's bangs that are sticking out from under their hat. Its the perfect weather to lay on a tree branch. Sam sighs with content.

Suddenly, they hear a low buzzing noise. Sam looks around, but finds nothing. They shrug and continue to relax. The buzz comes louder and then a bee lands on Sam's nose.

Sam's heart starts to thud rapidly, "... Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!" they scream as they fall off trying to escape.

They land face first on the wooden floor, they look up from where they fell and see a bed... It was just a dream. Sam closes their eyes sighs shakily.

"Are you okay?" Sam hears Hope ask.

"Y-yeah... I'm fine," they answered, still a little shaky.

"Haha, you scream like a girl!" Sera laughed.

Sam turns red, then points to where they think Sera is, "Sh-h-h-hut, your mouth."

"Did you have a bad dream?" Hope asked.

"No, it was actually good for the most part. A bee landed on me," Sam explained as they got up and sat on their bed, they rub their eyes.

"The great warrior, Sam, is afraid of bees?" Brooks bleated questionably.

Sam looks over at Brooks, who was laying next to Hope, "Yes, I am. Isn't everyone afraid of something?"

"Yes, but, bees? They're so tiny. I would easily squash one," Brooks bleated boastfully.

"I'm afraid of hornets," Hope simply pointed out.

Ash meows impatiently, "Can we go now!? Sam promised to train me today."

Sam cocks their head to the side, "I did...? Oh! Yeah, I did." They grab Roch and their hat. "Lets go to Aurora Forest. Hope, you are going to love it their. The snow there is beautiful," they smile in Hope's direction, she smiles back excitedly.

Princess Nya flies onto Sam's shoulder while carrying Brander. Sera climbs onto Sam's other shoulder.

30 Minutes Later

"I'm glad I brought my jacket," Hope comments as she slips on her blue jacket.

Sam was right: The snowy forest of Aurora is so pretty. Though, the branches are bending from the weight of the snow, and the bushes are practically buried under the snow.

"Hope! Come look at this!" Hope heard Sam shout. She walks over to them and sees a patch of strange but pretty white flowers with ice-blue stems.

"Those are Frost Flowers, n-ice, arn't they?" Sam chuckles.

"That was horrible," Nya commented.

"Nah, that was awesome," Sera giggles.

Hope leans down to cautiously touch a flower's petal, its cold to the touch.

"It feels like they're made of ice," Hope commented.

A blue and white striped bug flies onto one of the flowers.

"Icy Bees pollinate these flowers, hmm..." Sam pauses and mutters to themselves, "I wonder what Icy Honey tastes like..."

The bee takes off and lazily flies toward Sam. They squeak and jump straight up onto a tree branch. The bee doesn't notice and continues buzzing.

"Be careful," Nya scolds.

Hope tries hard not to laugh at what just happened. "Are you okay?"

"I'm fi-" the branch collapses under Sam's weight, the branch lands with a thud, Sam loses their balence and lands on their butt. "Oof."

"I told you!" Nya nags.

"Oh quit your whining, Princess," Sera remarks.

"Queen," Nya corrects.

"Are you okay?" Hope repeats.

"Yeah, I'm okay." Sam stands up and sweeps the snow off their pants.

Brooks bleats impatiently, "Stop fooling around you two, Taki isn't going to come to us you know."

"Yeah, I know," Sam sighs, "though, you should try to be more patient."

Suddenly, Ash jumps out from behind a bush and lands on Sam, "Ambush!"

"Watch it!" Nya scolds.

"Ah! Ha ha ha, good job, you got me," Sam chuckles and pets Ash's head. He purrs proudly.

Brooks roles his eyes, but says nothing.

Hope laughs then glaces at a random bush and sees something zip out of sight. What was that? she thought worriedly.
