The mechanics of traps are always the same and they can also always fail. As long as you are going into your inventory, choosing the trap and selecting the pet you want to use it on, all is well on that front. Sadly, there is a large element of luck to capturing normal (non-scripted) pets. Traps can and often do fail and pets can flee at any time. The stronger a trap you use, the lower the risk of both but it is still possible with any strength of snare aside from a master trap.

Your friends list is available in two locations. It is visible in cometchat as *who's online* and under *social*, it is your contacts list at the far right of your inbox. Note: These are the users that you have sent a friend request to: if someone sends a friend request to you, you are their friend but they are only yours if you send one in return.
Having someone as a friend means you can more easily nurture their hatchery and more easily send them items from your inventory but having or not having friends It also means you can private chat with these users using that list under *who's online*

Hope this helps.

how do you feed one of the pies to the creature (newbie, just started). The use button is black, so I guess it's greyed out?? Is the profile page of pet the inventory page? How do you drag the pie to the pet if you get a O with the / on it?

Pies are fed to pets via their profile page. There should be a *genetic philter* option in green at the top right of the options on the profile. Select this, find the magical pie and select to use that item. Note: Magical pies cannot be used on hatchlings or eggs. They also do not change the age of a pet, just its maturity so it will still show the same number of days but the maturity (0 for a new hatchling and 648 for an adult) will go up.

Hope this helps.

Is there an explanation of the difference between the color codes used while searching for sylvestis to buy (as offered by other people)? There are genetics in blue ink, green ink, and purple ink. Obviously they mean different things. This newbie is getting confused with them. Can you help? Thanks for your time.

The colours are usually shown with letters beside the genetic trait. The letter 'N' stands for nothing, and the other letters correspond to a particular trait. You can see the corresponding letter and trait by clicking the drop down list in adv search.

Green (eg NA) means the genetic traits are carried. So the pet does not visibly show the gene, but has a 50% chance of passing the gene down to its offsprings.

Blue (eg AA) means the genetic traits are visible. So the pet visibly shows the gene, and has a 100% chance of passing that trait to its offsprings.

Purple (eg AB) means there is a genetic trait hidden behind the visible gene. So the pet visibly shows gene A, and carries gene B. So there's a 50% chance for either A or B to be passed down to its offsprings.

Hope this helps. =)

Ok So I know this confuses ALOT of people (it did me!) So I thought I"d make a little graphic guide :)
Step 1. A New Shiny Post!

YAY We're on our way!

Step 2. Pick an Egg. Eggs are wonderful things, pick a pretty one! (note: in FIrefox it's copy image Location, any other browser, you're on your own unless you post and tell me how to do it!) IE and Edge have their own Pictures below :) Thanks to Dragonemperess below "In Safari, it's the copy image address option."

Step 2 For Edge

Inspect Element and Copy the img source FROM the element (it should highlight it automatically)

Step 2 for IE
in IE you're gonna have to click Properties and copy the location from the popup

Step 3. Past the URL into your post! DO NOT USE THE IMG BUTTON! (this was MY mistake!)

Step 4. Go get your eggs URL off the top of the page :D

Step 5. You remember where you pasted the egg's picture URL? HIGHLIGHT IT.

Step 6. Now click the IMG= Button WHILE you have it highlighted!

Step 7. Enter the eggs URL from the PAGE (not the picture) in the ensuing popup box :D

All done!

I hope you found this guide helpful :) It's my very first one!
