It's been a while since I've done the first quest for capturing a pet so I'm hoping I remember this well enough. When you're questing with Jinxie, I think you just need to have a certain amount of moves in the game before she'll give you the option to catch your first sylesti. You don't have to buy a net until this point. Once you have completed your first capture, you can buy different grade nets from different towns.

I believe Esior's Haven only has uncommon level traps that can only work for pets with white or green stars. Sanctuary of Saerielle has blue nets for capturing rare or lower grade pets. Ethernia in the third zone has epic traps which can be used for capturing epic grade pets and below. The festival zones when available usually have a vendor where you can find these traps for sale in limited quantities. You may have to be lvl 10 before you enter. I can't remember. But we're still having the fall festival going on today and tomorrow so if you get to lvl 10 try out the festival zone where you can get avatar items from bosses and find special themed pets.

Excuse me, I'm new here and I've been seeing these stars next to the wild pets in battle. What is the difference in the number and color of the stars?

If you're talking about the Autumn Foliage Ny'vene (the one from the wheel), it could possibly go up to a few million gold/a few thousand diamonds.

Though, the second one can be a bit incorrect in the legendary/mythical area.
You can check out the rest of my guide pictures though, I included a note with the corrected values.

Also, the rarities between the old interface zones (umbra forest/viridian meadows) and new interface zones (astryl's vale/festival zones) vary.

In old zones, uncommon = 2gp, usually 1vis
rare = 3gp, usually 1vis1carry
epic = 4gp, usually 2vis

while the new interface corresponds to the picture. c:

At the bottom right of the battle page, there's a speaker button. click that, and the sound will be muted. =)
