I agree with the fact that distractions are a very good helper. I know for me at least some of my hobbies or just other activities are very very helpful! I'm not sure I would be here today without them. And I agree Sarah that is part of the reason I love Sylestia. It's a good distraction and the community is one of the best i've seen so far

Yes, this part was very serious. If you find something you enjoy doing, weither is reading to escape hard reality or a sport, it helps a lot to realize that not everything is bad and life has good sides too!
And I agree for Sylestia. It's one of the website with the best community. People are not rude towards each other, they're helping and giving gifts to the newbies (on some sites when newbies ask questions people laugh at them and don't take them seriously, I don't like this mentality)...
Maybe it is due to the fact that this game is not only a pet game, but there is adventure creativity. There is no competition between the players (only nice contests during events), the war is against the bandits in the game. This is probably one of the reason people are helpful with the others players: nobody is always trying to win or be the best.
Also I think the community is mostly composed of older teenager, and some adults. There are younger teenager, but since the community is nice and mature, it encourages them to act nicely and be mature too! :) (On a lot of pets sites the majority of the community is composed by children and younger teenager who are much more immature).

Enyo, I really appreciate your perspective on this. I keep forgetting how truly special Sylestia is; the community here is mutually supportive, generally. Also I find that as a person who is just really not neurotypical, I am still generally accepted and supported by the community as long as I do my best to return the favor. You are right about the general level of maturity here. People who are committed to the community often take the time to educate newer members about things such as appropriate chat room behavior, site resources, and even sometimes a bit about the TOS. Most newbies take the hint and voluntarily conform to the community expectations.

God I've messed my life up so bad. I shouldn't have runaway because now I'm on probation but like I can't handle it here anymore. I don't like being screamed at daily. I don't like being hit. So yeah I ran. I hit a breaking point. I can't mentally handle it. I'm so close to just ending it all. I honestly feel like that might work.
