I say, running my slender fingers down Sjel's back, massging his wing joints. His purr gets louder, and soon sounds like a hive of hornets.

I stop petting Sjel, and he slowly decreases his volume to the sound of a content cat.
"Sjel, quiet." I say, waiting for the other person to take their hands off their ears.

"No problem." I say, as I put Sjel on the ground so that he can run around.

"Watching. I watch everything. Everything. My parents tried to teach me magic, the advanced kind, but it was uninteresting to me. I can better shoot things with my bow then use magic to kill." Phoenix shot an arrow straight over her head, barely missing her scalp. "Useful." She says, then walks away.
