Another librarian aids in your efforts of abating the flames, but it becomes too much for the two of you to handle as heavy smoke permeates the air. People with blue armbands, Hydrayests, burst in while bringing in a flowing stream of water with their magic.
"Move out and leave the area," one urges you as they douse the fire.
It looks like they got it handled as you exit the library...and see that almost every other building has caught on fire. A large group of scumbags are raiding and setting places on fire with jets of heat or glass bottles of liquid that explode when shaken and then thrown over to the ground.
A makeshift barrier of stone and guards are able to provide some protection for the civilians on your side of the street. Panicked civilians are leaving in a barely contained line.
"Follow the others out of the area to safety," a guard says.

You're in the inner region of Masina, at the front door of a noble woman's house named Cuifen who is hiring you for added security. Your cloak billowed in the cold air as the door promptly slid open at your arrival.
"Oh, hello!" Cuifen said. Her well-kept hair was decorated with pretty flower hair clips that had silver chains dripping off them and ended with precious pearls. She is also wearing pale blue robes and a pleated skirt. She seems very pleased to see you.
"Come inside, come inside." She motions you over to a side room where there was a low table accompanied by floor mats. A window let in sunlight as she served you fragrant tea. "I hope you like Lavin tea. Apparently the Lavin flowers came straight from the rainforest basin!"
She clapped her hands together.
"But that's not what were here to talk about. Is there anything else you need to know or equipment that you need me to buy? I want to make sure you are well prepared to prevent any thievery in my house." She lowers her voice. "My husband thinks I'm crazy and that I shouldn't take the gossip about make-believe burglaries seriously." She laughs and takes a sip of her steaming tea. "Men."

I nod briskly and hurry out of the burning building, following the rest of the civilians. Deep down, I hate this feeling of helplessness, standing and watching as those scoundrels destroy everything in their path. But it is not my time to intervene- I couldn't do much of anything anyways.

Everyone manages to get out the chaos-ridden place and onto one of the five bridges that lead to Uniari's capital, Mirance's friendly mermaid kingdom friend. Everybody was frightened and shaken however and numerous people appeared to be burned. The other librarian from earlier hesitantly comes up to you and asks, "Cosimo, right? A friend of mine who's a healer can help the injured, but we'll need an extra helping hand to carry the supplies. Mind coming..?"

"Rrrrright," I say slowly, trying not to sound downright unfriendly. Interacting with people has never been my strong suit. The man is obviously braver than most if he approached me in the first place..... most don't even bother. "I'd be..... happy to help, if you need." I smile awkwardly, desperately hoping I don't appear too hostile. If all goes well, I won't come across as aggressive..... that's the last thing I need right now, what with everything that's going on.

Warms sands are below you and cool winds surround you in Nicria. Many sun-bleached shades hang overhead market stalls as vendors sold various items. Koshary was being made not too far from you and plenty of street food was as well. Beyond the food stalls were caged birds and venomous snakes with their jaws taped shut. Imported merchandise were also present from strange paper mache dolls to a huge writhing reptile were being sold. Unloading boats were floating on Lake Serah and the bazaar behind the market stalls were cooler, with even more merchandise.
What will you do?

He glances away every so often as you talk. "That is why I asked for your help..," he says after you finish, following it with an awkward, short-lived laugh. He frowned as he looked at the crowd again and his gaze drifted somewhere else. "She lives in Uniari, but it won't take long to get her. We shouldn't delay any longer, follow me."
He goes across the bridge that was painted with layers of art and down the stairs that led to the rocky shoreline surrounding Uniari's capital. He turns to face you when he gets close to the water. "Wait here, alright?" He dips into the water and shift to his mermaid form. "I won't take long, I promise."

I nod, not really wanting to risk saying any more. I did not know the man was a mer-person, but it doesn't surprise me all that much. Honestly, I'm strange enough that it wouldn't be my place to judge. I stand there on the dock and wait for the man to return.

I hold my wings closer to my body, looking around myself warily. I'm not familiar with this area; instinctually I'm lowering my profile to seem like someone of little interest to the strangers around me.
I'm happy with what I've assessed of my surroundings, so I turn my attention inward. What's my status?
(Do I need food? If so, better establish a food source)
