First somewhat large update. Hoping to organize the updates so I can refer to them later, let me know what you think of this organizing format.

CODING:
Nothing has been done on the game, however, I am working on an Undertale fangame that is coming along very well. The tutorials I have been watching have also taught me how to code some very important things (fade in/out room transitions, when to start/end music, etc).

MUSIC CREATION:
Finally, something I actually made progress on!
I've made progress on a few tracks, and threw together a form to fill out if you'd like to give criticism. The names are linked to a google drive m4a. For reference, not of these tracks are finished, they're all a work in progress.

Miasma. This track is meant to be an area theme played while exploring the miasma. The miasma is lifeless, but you might see memories or destroyed homes in the fog. The track is meant to represent the feelings of this area.

Reminiscence. This one is much smaller. Like the title implies, it's probably going to be played during a scene where someone has a happy memory, likely one related to their childhood home.

Hometown. This one is very short. It's meant to be a lighthearted town theme, and not much more.

Sallyforth's Theme. The name says it. Probably linked to Sallyforth himself as a main theme. One of you might have noticed that the chords are the same as Hometown's, and that is intentional ^^

Aaaaaaand the criticism form.

CHARACTER CREATION:
Actually done quite a bit with this one, though they're mostly side characters that aren't finalized. I need to work on writing funny dialogue ^^;

STORY CREATION:
Since this is the first big update, I'll be rewriting everything that has happened in the thread up to this point.

The character knows (at least at some point) that they are being controlled by you. Think Oneshot, but more malicious and unhappy about it. Unlike Oneshot, however, you can sometimes override what the character wants and make them do what you want. There's a limit to this, however (think software instability from DBH).

The main character is a robot, created by putting a dead creatures spirit/soul into a mechanical body. Robots don't have memories from their previous soul. However, the main character is the exception. Their original body was destroyed in the miasma and recovered by their father, one of the scientists who created the robots. This also twists him in the future, as you'll see.

The game worlds main problem is the miasma. The miasma corrupts creatures that enter it, destroying or twisting them. The robots are still affected, but less so, as they don't have a body to corrupt, only a spirit/soul. The miasma is actually a link to our world, and the player is able to take control of or affect certain characters that enter it.

The scientists don't know why the robots work. They know that the robots don't retain memories from their previous lives and usually follow directions. This is actually because the robots are empty vessels, and are susceptible to being controlled by outside forces (ex. the person playing the game, or the miasma itself).
I actually thought this idea was interesting because in a lot of RPG games you blindly follow the directions that NPCs give you.

Essentially, three people will be influencing the game. You, the player, and me. Not me directly, but I will be coding what I would say/do.

And that's it for the first update. The only thing that really got updated was the music, though there was quite a bit of that. Hope you enjoy and please let me know what you think ^^

Not at all! It sounded like a real rpg!
Other: I am taking a game design course but have not entered the coding stuff yet. I am an artist and would love to help create an idea for the character. Be as discriptive as you want! : ) PM if you'd like to.
Also, is this rpg going to be 8- bit?

Yes, just yes. All of this is amazing. This sounds like an actual game and the plot is just so cool, since it's not too dark, but isn't too lighthearted either.

Yep, it's going to be 8bit. I do need a lot of help creating sprites, I might ask for help in a later update ^^
