Really sorry to bother you again but I want to try and make a male character. Yet I still want to include pups. So I was wondering if he could have killed the mother and ran away with the pups? Maybe because she was abusive? I know this might not be very logical and all, so it's kind of stupid to ask. Sorry to bother you again!

Yeah that's completely fine xd
If you go that route using the recent human attack may be helpful.
The male got the pups after the mother was shot down by humans, but no one misses her much nor talks of her as she was known to hurt her pups and such.
