My compliments to the artists on all their hard work!
But please consider making the scales flatter, or making them smaller (or both!)
I find the artwork lovely, but in my humble opinion the weight of the scales detracts from the pet as a whole.
Thanks for the ever vigilant work to improve the site! c:

The first thing I noticed was that the scales were so large. To me, they give the pet a...I dunno, a coarse look? The Qitaries look like they're wearing heavy scale mail armor. I immediately started worrying about all my Qitaries who look as though they have iridescent scales. I don't think I will get the iridescent look with scales this large. Please, consider giving the redraw tiny scales.
After I got over the appearance of the scales, I decided I like the new proportions. Their eyes are larger, but the legs and feet are less delicate and more like a fighting animal's legs and feet, which keeps them from looking too "baby"--the adults, I mean. Oh, I also like the expressions. The adult male looks a tiny bit worried, I must say, but the rest have mischievous little I'm-up-to-no-good smiles.
Other than the scales, I could quibble with the female's twisted pose, just because so many female Sylesties seem to have their necks twisted. One thing I like about the "old" Qitari is that the females' necks are not twisted. However, honestly, those large scales are the one thing I really worry about. Not criticizing, just offering feedback as a responsible Qitari fan/breeder.

While I do agree with most everyone about the scales being a bit too large, I am absolutely in love with the new pose and the rest of the design. They look a lot more like wild horses now.

We can have the scales looked at. We are making it so that they can have different scale mutations, so if anything we can just make the current scales now be a mutation (call them Armored Scales or something) and then have their default scales be something different.
I do want to say though that even if we do redraw these scales for a new default...they are still going to be bigger than the original scales. The reason being is that the old scales were way too cluttered and close together, to the point where when putting genes on the scales you couldn't really see the genes.

Oh, yesyesyes! I was so hoping Qitari would be next, and they're looking fabulous! I can't wait to see how my starting pet translates over into this new style. :D
(I do agree the scales might need scaling down, though.)

Okay, I was worried about giving feedback, but then I saw what everyone else was saying and I feel safe now. >.<
I feel the scales are too large and too thick seeming on the adults. I do like the little trailing off edges on the scales though, they look really neat. I would be happy if they were a tiny bit more deer like and delicate looking, since we already have the very muscular Kelpari. But that's a nitpick, and kirin can be styled in many ways. My only other opinion is that the manes seem to be a bit short still, especially in how far back they go. It reminds me more of hairstyles on humans than a horse mane. I'm totally in love with the hatchlings, though. They're cute as can be. (Although I'm a bit iffy on the second back leg on the female, I don't think you'd be able to see it from that angle? But other than that they're great.)
Still don't think I'll ever love this species, but they look significantly better. :)
