Shell thought for a moment then snapped her head under water pulling up some loose floating seaweed. She sloppd it onto the closed gash. She stretched her wing, gained some height but hovered there. "The wind helps."

Knuckles just looked at her. "It's pretty high up..." he said dubiously.

"I can manage." she folded in her wings and dropped down on all fours.

"ALLL righty then," He said, climbing her tail up to her back.

The day before
Knuckles stood at the front of the boat, wind blowing through his fur. An otter, captain of the ship by the looks of it, shuffled out to him. "Hullo, young sir. May I venture to ask why you decided to visit this barren island?" Knuckles looked at him. Huh. Fancy words. hope he doesn't start talking like a sailor on me. "I'm a treasure hunter," Knuckles said simply. The Captain looked alarmed. "On this isle?" "Yes," The graying otter looked at Knuckles with a worried expression. "What's wrong? W-why are you looking at me like that?" "Dragons, Son," Knuckles held back a growl and a laugh. (As you know, at this point he found the thought of dragons existing hilarious, but being called "son" was downright irritating.) "Dragons? You mean those flying dinosaurs?" The otter looked at him and nodded. "Every treasure hunter I dropped off never came back to the ship," Knuckles looked back at the island. "Iiiinnnnnteresting..." "Promise you'll be careful?" The captain asked. "I punched a water god of destruction in the face--" "You what?!" "--I think I'll be fine," Knuckles said with a wink. "Even if I don't leave the island by nightfall, I'll make sure you know I'm alive if you're that concerned. Heard of Miles Prower? Everyone calls him Tails, though. You probably heard about him on the News," It felt weird saying his full name like that. "I'll contact him once I find what I'm looking for. It's a one-way signal though. Tell 'im Knuckles sent you," "Knuckles?! As in--?!" "Knuckles The Echidna, up close and personal. Avoid the sailor speak if you can?" "R-right. My apologies,"

Shel readied herself and spread her wings again backing up and running forward jumping and gliding upward, she smashed her tail against the water and gained a boost of speed. She flapped her wings once or twice. And finally grabbed the bottom of the island by a rock shelf before gravity took over on them.( because of the injured wing and lack of wind.)

Knuckles latched on to the side of the island. "Nice goin', coulda worked on the landing, though," he joked, not expecting any laughter from Shell. He started climbing. "I did not know that rock shelf was there, and you might want to start climbing or it's gonna fall out from under you," He wasn't kidding either, it seemed to be buckling under her weight.

Gripping tighter with her talons she launched herself upward, ignoring the jokes, as expected. The rock sehlf crumbled and she continued climbing up the side of the island.

Knuckles hastened his climbing, glarcing at Shell. "I know it's none of my business, but what do dragons keep hordes for?" He asked. Might as well learn something from this, he figured
