"Yeah." Shell continues to swim.

Knuckles looked at the surrounding darkness. Soothing, sure, but somehow unsettleing at the same time. He held up a hand. He could just make out the outline. He sighed, closing his eyes. "Eastward and upward," He muttered. "That's all I can say, too many people know about it. Whatever happened to 'Oh, that's a myth'? But Nooooo, if it's power they want, only death or defeat can stop them. That's how it's always worked," He wasn't entirely sure who he was talking to, himself, Shell, or the emerald.

Shell's ears laid back. "Yeah, I agree. 'Oh, but I thought all the dragons were wiped out long ago. Welp might as well come storming over the earth tearing up all the safe sanctuaries where the survivors live in peace assisting the freedom fighters.' ..."

Knuckles looked up. "So, you have heard of Sonic and Tails," he smiled then, but got serious. "How much have you heard, exactly?" He said, eying Shell suspiciously (as well as he could in the dark, that is.).

Shell bit her lip. "I haven't spent the entirety of my life in a cave. I have relatives from long ago that joined with the freedom fighters after...Robotnic...you know....attacked, transformed, or what ever he did and/or is doing to mobians, and dragons." she kept her gaze straight.

"Ah, one of those older teams. I get it," Knuckles said casually. "Wouldn't call Sonic and Tails 'Freedom Fighters' exactly, the older teams originally had eight or more, at least so I've heard. But everyone else does so..." he paused. "Robotnic did a lot, too me and others. It sucks. I actually trusted the guy for a bit, but the second I get my mitts on him... the liar (he growled before continuing)... he just wanted to get close to the Master Emerald, and when he was done with me he tries to kill me. His tactic was effective too, but I'm not quite dead yet. I met Sonic, we made amends, and now... yeah,"

Shell snorted. (In humor and do you either mean Robotnic tried to kill him or Sonic @-@ I'm trying to find it but all I see is "He")

(I'm reading over the post and I now see the confusion. Yeah I was referring to Robotnic. It's surprisingly difficult to find a good image on google though. I went ahead and fixed it.)

"It seemed like a good idea at the time. Of course, I was pretty much isolated from the rest of the world up until that point. I didn't know better..." Knuckles murmured, eyes closed and head bowed.

"Hmm, that's fine...I guess. We all start out sorta isolated." Shell looked at the ocean as she swam. "I mean I didn't expect the ocean to be, I don't know. Cold?"

Knuckles involuntarily shivered when Shell said "cold". "Yeah... most water tends to be..." he mumbled. The chaos emerald started pulsing again. "Almost there, it's picking up the other two," He said encouragingly before yawning again.
