I start shooting the spheres at them, then decide to run to my house. I was hoping it distracted them (probably not).

Jacie swings her sword at the shadow thingy, planning on the strike hitting the zombie's chest. "I am not zombie food! That was not on my bucket list, thanks!" She yells at it, and backs up on all fours (basically crab walk. With one hand. Being chased. And going straight backwards?).

Your sword hits the shadow thingy and it melts into a puddle of black tar. Covering you and the sidewalk. You can't see, it's in your eyes.
