You spot nothing strange or missing that wasn't already there. The potion bottles lay scattered across the floor as usual and the hay bales are still stacked perfectly.

You put on each ring in turn and cross the barrier. Nothing happens with first two.
The oily ring, though it burns to the touch, doesn't affect you in the cleaner side of the barn. Your burns from it even seem to be healed.
You take it off before passing the barrier again.

Nothing seems to change and nothing happens.
Along with the glowing crystal, a faint line appears in the center of the barn.

We pass through the gate and I sigh. 'Maybe I'm just being paranoid and nothing's wrong' I think. 'Nathaniel pushed me away a bit too quickly, but maybe I'm reading into it too much. What do you think?' I ask them.
'Eh, I don't trust this place, you were right to leave.' one says.
Another replies with, 'I liked that Mara lady and her Qitari! To bad they left us... Nathaniel seems nice enough, maybe he was just busy!'
I smile. 'Maybe, Ari..."
The last voice says, 'It's alright to be wary, you were just following your gut. It's always better to be safe than sorry Eme.' I chuckle. "Yeah, you're probably right Griff, thanks guys." Brilliance and I leave the city, and wander for a while.
