You follow the river into the forest and see a large oak tree you could sleep in

Search for any large leaves or something to cover the entrance and make it more protected. Once I cover it properly go to sleep inside.

Well, I saved him from impending doom. Somewhat literally and physically. It wasnt a good place to be..

There were two hearts of the table, one of something you didn't recognise, the other of a cat. Both siblings were put to sleep and the hearts swapped with their own, as well as some dna of each creature inserted inside of them. After a large timeskip, the boy woke up, his eyes yellow and hair blue. You could now see him as the man earlier. His shoulder had grown cat ears and tail, but was withering in her sleep.

My frown deepens. I remember him saying something about many having died and my vision goes a bit red.
"Well, I guess it is impossible for me to have a peaceful dream" I mutter to myself.

Sage nodded, "His heart is as light as a sylphs, but you can sense his magic"
Holly's ears twitched and flicked as she listened " what does that mean" she asked curiously

" what's a sylph?"

There were no large leaves so you haul yourself up to the higher branches (it isn't hollow, i meant sleep on the branches, sorry for bad English)
