I did have some questions abouts the future.
1. Total revamp Ive heard rumors that the site with have a complete rework of the entire exploration system from Esiors Haven to the lost grove is that still being considered?
2. Will we go pasted level 75 in our pet levels like to 100?
3. Would you consider hiring some help for Sylestia I know that there are moderators Like Pirate But when your discus not having enough time would it be helpful to Hire someone on the back end to clean up the code? This is your baby and your project but if you cant do it all would it be helpful to get another person even if part time?

1. Yep. 100%. My current plan is to finish the Breeding Grounds revamp, then potentially revamp the Scale Shop, and then start working on the massive Exploration revamp project.

2. The whole leveling process will definitely be changing. I haven't decided on any numbers just yet. I imagine, at first, the level cap will be lower than it is now and then slowly increase over time as new content is unlocked. It is very possible that, down the road, the level cap eventually surpasses where it is now.

3. Perhaps down the road, but not at this point in time. I'm not really one to ask or expect people to work for free, so that's out of the question. That also often leads to many issues down the road and you can look at many other games that have done that - it's not a recipe for long-term success. I don't have the resources right now to hire additional developers and even if I did, I would only want to hire someone I personally know and trust and I don't know anyone at the moment who would fit what I'd be looking for. I think the only way I'd end up hiring additional developers is if I have plenty of resources to support it and if Sylestia is in a big enough growth state that it warrants it. At that point, I'd probably look into opening an actual studio and I can confidently say that we are many many years, at minimum, away from that scenario. =P

1. To kind of piggyback off of the stable comments, would there ever be a feature to either edit the number of stalls per row, or just have all the tabs have even numbers per row (which would probably require an extra stall but :/)? It's slightly irritating lining up breeding pairs and having the last row broken up, and an extra un-paired pet on the page.

2. A pet game I used to play called Wajas has a Bank feature, where you can store your currency to help you budget. Flight Rising has a similar Vault feature for items and I think also currency, but I could be mistaken on that one. Is a bank/vault-type feature something you would consider implementing here, for gold and/or diamonds?

3. This is technically two questions, but both pertain to fest quality-of-life, so hopefully this is allowed (and if not, please disregard the second one).
As more players join, leaderboards have become increasingly competitive, especially nurture boards. I understand that that is, in fact, The Point, but I also see myself, and judging by region chat, many others who get kicked off by a VERY small number of points. Would you possibly consider increasing the boards to maybe 15 slots? As for my second point, I am aware it would require re-coding unless something could be maybe copied from another fest (I know absolutely nothing about coding), but would Summer Fest sand sculpting ever switch to slow hourly point increases like the other fest catalyst creations?

But anyway, thank you for this wonderful game :)

Edit: we already have 15 leaderboard slots, I may be illiterate

1. It's definitely within the realm of possibility that I adjust how Stable space works in the future. I can't say how that'd be adjusted at this point in time as it's not really on my immediate radar, but I think it's fair to say it could change at some point.

2. Heh. I know that a bank has been a requested feature for like 10+ years now. I still don't have any immediate plans to add one. I'm not going to say I'll never add one, but I just don't have a plan to at this point in time. I do, however, have plans on completely reworking how inventories work when I work on the Exploration revamp.

3. For Leaderboards, I don't have any plans to expand beyond 15 placements at this point in time. We actually had a lot more active players back when we first expanded to 15 placements and it's dropped quite a bit since then. I still think 15x2x22 (660 total) is plenty of slots for our current active playerbase. Even right now, looking through the active contest, some boards are basically 10-15 minutes worth of battling and you can be on a board. The Nurturing boards all scale from about a 300% increase from 15th to 1st. I think both have plenty of availability for players to make them with minimal effort.

The original concept for these features was always to have them be a bit different from one another. The main reason for this is because I wanted to do what I could to make each season feel a little bit unique. I feel that if it's the exact same approach for all four seasons, feature-fatigue will kick in way faster. For each Festival, all of the drop rates and features are all balanced around these differences. For example, Summer Festival also gets Beach Treasure Seeking - which adds a ton of rewards into the pool for players. Believe it or not, but Summer Festival actually saw more created pets from Sylesti Sand Sculpting (7,300) than Spring Festival did from Sylesti Gardening (6,300 in 2025) or Winter Festival did from Sylesti Ice Sculpting (5,500 in 2024). And this is despite Summer Festival usually having the lowest amount of daily active players relative to the other Festivals just due to time of year.

Hello, thank you for this! Really appreciate the open communication and respect you and your team gives to us :)

1. The site can be a little click heavy, and overall I get it! But do you have any plans to implement some quality of life things? One example is booping sculptures: being able to use 1, 2, or 3 to select the agent instead of having to move your mouse to do it and is there a way to stop the screen from jumping to the top every time you boop a bottom sculpture?

2. For stats, perhaps adding a line what the stat does to the hover over info when on the available prof page? Like, I hover over dex but it doesn't say what it actually does. I know what the word means, but perhaps something to say this will increase your crit, or speed, etc. I may not be explaining this thought very well.

3. Forums quality of life: Any chance or plans for forums searching? Some sites I've been on have the option for you to find all your posts. I'd enjoy that cause sometimes I want a quick look at my previous submissions. Or the ability to search for a topic by name or who submitted it? It's very hard to find specific guides and I remember as a newbie being completely overwhelmed by it when asking a question and being advised to find a guide in the forum. I eventually gave up and googled it, which works sometimes :P

Everyone is asking such awesome questions, got some of mine answered already <3

Kinda wish it were 5 questions, but I'm just a curious little creature :P

Q1 - Since you said RTs help with revenue... Can LG trait scrolls be added to BF? Including the Rikki heart traits?

Q2 - Can there be avi &/or themed pet design contests for the events? (WoL, Fortune, Easter, Patriotic)

Q3 - Is this suggestion I made, even a possibility?
(I'd like to know bc surprise surprise, I'm one of the said people with phobias :v )

First and Foremost as a 10+ year player. Thank you so mush for all you have done for us as players. You have truly created a space that is not only a one of a kind experience, but you have also included us as players in the process. You are honestly a one of a kind admin and creator. In case it wasnt clear we all sincerely appreciate everything you do!!

Two Questions.

1.) Upon completion of the site revamp, will we have the chance to redo starter pets? If so what species and traits will be available, and will there be more points to allocate say to have a 3vis pet?

2.) Is there any plans to change and add font styles and other creative options in the forums? Or make images easier to insert?

1. I am definitely always in favor of implementing more QOL into Sylestia. I could definitely see adding more things like that down the road. One thing that'd probably help me a lot is if I created a global script for hotkeys that's just automatically tied into every single page and then easily route individual page functions through it. At this point in time, I just have individual systems on the pages where it's available, so it's not easy to implement it into somewhere new.

2. It should do that already. If it's not, you can open up a Bug Report and we can work on figuring out what's wrong.

3. A high quality search is actually a lot harder than it seems for a few reasons. I haven't really ever bothered spending the time to create one for our Forums because, to be quite frank, Google's will always be way better than anything I can create. They have spent billions of dollars perfecting the art of searching. My recommendation will probably always be to just go to Google, type in "Sylestia Forums" and then type in what you're searching for.

Someday, I may try and build one for our Forums. But to have an efficient and accurate search on many, many, many walls of text is extremely hard to pull off. There's a lot more to it than just simply running a single database query. You'd basically have to build a whole ecosystem dedicated to searching the actual posts and threads.

This is me running a simple search query for a keyword against all Forum Posts:

Queries are expected to typically process in less than 0.001 seconds. A 4.5 second query is a literal eternity for a database query like that. So it would require extensive work for me to even think of implementing one that didn't severely clog up the database.

1. I probably won't be adding the Lost Grove Trait Scrolls for direct sale just because of the ecosystem I've created for their current acquisition. First, players have to encounter a Pet with a LG Trait. Second, they need to successfully capture it. And then lastly, they need to buy and use a Trait Extractor to get the Trait Scroll. It's a lot of work (intentionally made that way) where allowing direct purchase kind of defeats that whole system. The only exception I've done for this is the Elemental Trait Set for Ferrikki just due to their extreme exclusivity. But even those, I don't plan on releasing them this year for the same reason.

2. I typically don't bother with those contests for the smaller events because what we add is generally so limited and, a lot of times, I already have an idea in mind going into the event. A lot of the times, there's only one or two Themed Pets added. I would end up spending more time going through everyone's submissions than if I just created the one or two Themed Pets myself.

3. Unfortunately, I am not sure how I would go about that. It would require a ton of extra back-end code to make something like that work. The site would basically have to scan everything about an Avatar image first, then cross reference some sort of list from the player viewing it, then replace the listed items with some sort of alternative default. It'd be a lot of extra processing for an already very heavy image-processing site. I also would then have to code in the front-end interface for such a system to exist for the players to interact with. I'm sorry. =\

1. I have always had plans for players to feel more invested with their Starter Pets. I've just never had a good platform to serve these ideas. Post exploration revamp, I think it would be a very opportune time to implement those ideas - or at least very soon after. Regarding changing Species, probably not. Maybe through some sort of recycling feature? Lol. Regarding changing Traits, I am not sure if that will be possible. I may add something if the pet has no Offspring. But if the pet has had Offspring, it gets a bit tricky allowing that. Adding more Traits? Yes, that is planned. Improving its Base Stats? Yes, that is planned.

I basically want Starter Pets to eventually have the opportunity to be as fun and powerful as any other pet potentially could be. This would be exclusive only to a player's Starter Pet and it would require a lot of in-game effort to reach that potential. But I do want it to be possible.

As far as if there will ever be more Species allowed, probably not. However, we may add new Species as Starter Pets down the road. This could be a scenario that makes me more inclined to add some sort of Starter Pet recycling feature.

2. I am definitely the type of person who likes uniformity - for a few reasons. I think it helps to create a consistent and clean environment, I personally just want Sylestia to be easily read on all formats and not having to try and decipher weirdly implemented text and fonts, and I just want some semblance of control over how Sylestia looks to outsiders and newcomers. That said, I do also understand a player's ambition for wanting to express themselves and, here on the internet, we do that through the text that we write. While I wouldn't hold your breath on me adding more font styles to the Forums, it definitely could be something enabled for revamped Player Profile pages. I would not at all mind players utilizing their Player Profile page to express themselves however they want (within reason of course lol).

Regarding images, I do admit that we are a bit behind the times of modern functionality and are very 10+ years ago lol, but I feel it's pretty easy to add images to a post as long as you have the link to the source. If you're referring to inserting images directly, I don't plan on ever allowing that as I don't want to be responsible for hosting or policing content that players can freely add to our servers.

At this point in time, I am basically completely free from any legal responsibility of what's shared on our Forums (in regards to image content and, of course, within reason) because I'm not the one hosting the actual images and I plan on keeping it that way. If I get a DMCA take down notice, I just simply let the petitioner know that I am not hosting anything and point them to the site that actually is lol. Of course, I police our own Forums to my own standards and our own TOS here on Sylestia, but it's nice that I do not have to worry about what people from all over the internet can upload onto Sylestia's server.

I am sure at some point in the future, the Forums will get another QOL update. But I definitely have higher priorities right now that I'll be focused on for the foreseeable future.

1: Once all the species revamps are done, do you plan on doing individual trait revamps?

2: Was the dragon in the "S" of Sylestia ever planned to be a real species? It kinda has the head of a Draeyl...

3: What was the original inspiration for Sylestia? Are there any other games (or books, or movies, or anything!) that had a part in the creation of certain aspects?

1. I'm not sure I would say we have direct plans to, but it definitely could be a possibility. Something that would come to mind would be Lucky Runes - it's pretty inconsistent across all species. Definitely would be nice to get Traits like that to be the same style from one species to the next.

2. I don't think it was ever planned to be anything specific. But I would say we've definitely had some brainstorming on what it would be if it were. I think at this point though, it's just our logo and the personification of Sylestia. I can't remember back at this point, but it wouldn't surprise me if both the Aeridini and Nephini were loosely based on it. That said, "dragons" are a very important aspect to Sylestia's lore and I definitely have major plans for the implementation of dragons down the road.

3.
The notion of Sylestia began just simply from Faiona and I wanting to make a game. From there, we decided on a browser game as it would be the easiest and we had some familiarity with other popular browser games at the time.

We absolutely took a lot of inspiration from other games, but not really any one game in particular. We took things from popular pet sims, MMORPGs, RPGs, etc. Sylestia is really just a combination of a lot of mechanics that we enjoyed as gamers and we thought it'd be fun and interesting to combine all of these things into one giant game. I still have tons of planned features that I intend on adding into Sylestia down the road and can't wait to hopefully someday reach that goal.
