I sit in one of the chairs in said room.

"Let's start right away. Why were you hiding in the bakery?"

(Many languages? Uh, yeah. I guess so.)

Jacie stands near the doorway of the room, and watched the police. "So...why am I here?" She asked, and trembled with fear.

"Because you were carrying a weapon."

"I ran away from my mother, as she just became a shadow creature, and thought that was the best place to hide from them. The reason why I didn't show myself to you police is because I thought you might have been shadow creatures and were using the police cars as a ruse. Had I known that you were actually police, I would've not stayed hidden," I say, shaking, but keeping my voice steady. "I just... didn't know what else to do but hide." I begin crying, not on purpose, but because I was scared. Scared of what Zoey and Mom became. Scared that the police were going to turn into shadow creatures while I'm in jail.

(Yeah, because that was German. Lilly is bilingual.)

The officers glance at each other. "Innocent enough. She's just a little kid."
"What did you say about wanting to register a weapon?"

"Um, I wanted to register the slingshot you confiscated and to register my compound bow with release trigger once I go back to m-my h-house and g-get it." I say. I was scared to go back, but I had to. My bow was my best weapon.

"It was my fathers, and he was showing me how to do it for the special play in one of those Renaissance festivals when he went crazy, and I ran away thinking it was the end of the world..." Jacie was whizzing through the truth so she wouldn't cry. She bit her finger, trying to not relive that crazy experience of zombies evading their backyard and then -she cut her thoughts short. "I g-guess I j-j-just n-never let g-g-go."

The officer sighed. "You don't need to register the slingshot, but once you get the bow, come back here to register it. You can go."
