Ah, that brings up a whole set of flaws in my idea, XD.
It isn't needed, it's just a thought that I had.

The way an average basic database works with numbering is that if somethign gets deleted form he list, it makes everything else move down one. So if say someone who joined before me deleted their acount using Beaus idea, then I would become 120554. And so forth.
Also jsut saying, there ar epoepl (me) who, sicne they use one device most of the time and need quick access a lot, dont log out of their emails and stuff all the time. So technically someone could come along, get into my email, get into sylestia, and delete me completely. Without my permission. Which would not be good. Emails arent that safe tbh if you dotn sign out.
Also what about forum posts and stuff? Like what would we do with those, most people who re active post at least one so yeah you'd jsut have a lot of.....issues with that.
That's probably why ksot game sites I know of just lock the do nothing with the inactive accounts instead of deleting, too much work involved with ids and stuff

just want to point out that sites that DO have delete account functions don't delete the actual account, but basically erase all information on it, and put a note that says something on the order of 'this account has been deleted'.
So, the worries about how the database would handle something like this is moot, because the database would, most likely, simply delete everything off the account, wipe out who owned it, their information they put on there etc..
For instance. Gryffs has the ability to delete gryffs. (I don't know if you can delete accounts). If you delete a gryff, it is gone. Nothing of that gryff remains on site. Except the ID number. If you put the ID number of that gryff into the url (to get to the gryffs page) you come up with a page that says something like 'this gryff does not exist' or 'invalid gryff'. But the page for the gryff still exists.
that would be the simplest way to handle deleting accounts.
However, while I am usually for account deletion, as I believe people should have the right to close accounts if they want, in Sylestia's case, I have to take the rare stance of no.
like others, I like that I can, as a new player, come in and be able to buy older pets that have been put up for sale, even if their owners left the site long ago. Same thing for people breeding pets.
There are ways to mitigate the issue of people gaining access to someone's account to delete it, such as making the delete function six months long (ie, you hit delete account and six months later your account is deleted, but you can stop it at any point in those six months and if the delete account is hit, it starts from the beginning of the six months, so you have another six months to stop it. As well as email confirmation about deleting, where you have to click the link in the email before your account becomes deleted), but I feel that with the way that Sylestia is set up, a delete button wouldn't really be good.
I also think that forum posts would be an issue as well, since there might not be an easy way to delete them, though they would probably all functionally turn into being posted by (for example) #1234567890 as the name of the account would be wiped, so it would only be known by its ID.
But for the content of the posts? or the actual posts themselves? That could be an issue because some of those posts could be guides that might be best left alone, but others might be stuff the user would have wanted wiped (but didn't want to go through 1000s of their posts to find them), and deleting the actual posts brings problems of what happens if the OP is the deleted account?
