https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Eeh054-Hx1U The whole video is pretty informative, but if you want to get straight to the part the timestamp is roughly 3:15

Yeah, while some more than others, we all have our stupid moments, haha.

There's a quote by Benjamin Franklin that goes something like "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure," ....Uh, something like that, anyway. I wrote a paper on him a looong time ago, heh. Anyway, you get what I mean and I'm glad you're willing to help how you can.

Ooh, informational video! Sure, why not! I'll check it out in a bit.... gotta reply to my roleplays XD

Viruses arn't even considered living things but 'sneaky ******' is an appropriate description, heh. That's actually a really good video though. Like, really good. I think I'll give him a sub later.

So... A math competition I was supposed to go to (in Stanford) was canceled due to Covid-19. So has a coding competition, but not the STEM fair, the one thing I didn't want to go to.
Classes in Stanford University have also been canceled (I believe a professor was infected).

And there has been a confirmed case in my tiny town.

... Thanks, California.
Plus, we're not too far from Washington

To quote my friend: "California's going to be one of the first to go down."
Not sure what 'going down' means in this case, but:

Well, that's lovely.

Looks like the Pacific side's going to go down first *thumbs-up*

Although to be honest, I'm not totally terrified of dying myself, given that I'm a teenager and I have a pretty good immune system... I usually get over the flu in a day or two if I get it in the first place.
Then the annoying kids in my school say "Ooh, coronavirus" every time someone coughs and I'm just like "Let's see who's laughing if they actually do..."

I'm looking at my state and I'm pretty sure that map's a tad outdated. It says zero cases but it hit my area a few days ago. I bet it was a UPS driver. :/

I never know whaf to make of those kind of kids. They're either really trying to cope or they're just flat out nitwits.

You're... east coast-ish, right?
Found a much better one
Hmm, I'll bookmark that. It updates a lot.
Oh... poor Rhode Island... Surrounded by a bunch of very infected states... Wait that's just New York, but... dang
My mom told me that a person had recently returned from Wuhan, self-quarantined, and they have a daughter who either goes to my school or is in some middle school.
But I doubt that, because they probably would have closed my school district if that was true.

They probably mean going down as in, the system getting swamped.

California has a large population and many major citys (and airports), which means there will be many cases *very* quick once they start doing anykind of heavy testing (if they ever do, believe igt or not theres actually clincs and hospitals who have *said* they wont be doing any testing since its been confirmed as endemic in the US). You cant have cases without testing so as unfortunate as it is, there are definitely people walking around with it who just don't know or don't care, and just don't get tested :/

But anyway if any major testing starts the hospital will quickly find itself with hundreds of cases (I believe the cases in the united states have doubled in the last couple days as they start testing) to deal with. Im sure you can probably think of the repercussions that will have.

If you look at South Korea's numbers you'll actually see that they have *a ton* of cases, but their fatality rate is only 0.6% and they've...if my memory serves me right-- administered 140,000 tests? They even have test stations setup in parkinglots in small shed-like buildings so you can drive up (like a drive thru) and get tested without even having to leave your car. In addition they've actually equipped some of their soliders with disinfectant in a pump sprayer and PPE to spray public buildings and train stations etc. They even made an app that will show you where reported infected people have been and where they've disinfected. I think they're doing an excellent job at containing this virus in their country.

Unfortunately I don't think the United states could take such strict measures without public backlash :/ Plus were a *huge* country, thats alot of ground to cover xD

You are right, the risk to teenagers and such is low, but that doesn't stop you from spreading it to--for example, your parents or grandparents. And maybe well, your parents are also young or your grandprarents dont even live near you. What about when you infect a friend who might have family members who are more likely to get seriously sick, or die? Just food for thought,,,

I'm in Florida, and definitely treating it like we're one of those orange states. I wouldn't be suprised if we have more than 50 cases walking around. We're a popular tourist hotspot, and the Orlando airport is definitely one of the bigger ones-- we actually know someone who flew back from Italy (uh...something like 5000 cases in Italy right now?) and didn't even get stopped and checked so im not really confident on that angle >.>. Plus if you've seen the disaster that happened with the Diamond Princess (infact, isnt California currently dealing with the Grand Princess?), well, we're also a big cruise spot xD Those things are floating petri-dishes.

This brings me to another subject, temperature (because it was 90 two days ago xD). Some people are hoping that like the flu-- this will get weaker during the summer. Early research suggests that while, yes, hotter temperatures will weaken it on outside surfaces, it definitely doesn't hurt it much :/ Also I'd like to point out that where its hot in one place its cold in the other so xD

(Also im on my 3ds rn so research is literal hell, im pulling most of this from memory but I think I got everything correct)

Lol. I noted that not a single state I've lived in before isn't infected.
Nope nope, never been to the midwest
