This news about the wheel makes me very sad indeed to hear. I'm sorry that it hasn't worked out, I've always loved spinning it.

I don't suppose now would be the time to tell what you're planning to do instead, or is the plan to just not do anything with themed fabled pets until the wheel is fixed up? Haha sorry to be pawing for answers, I'm just a little nervous.

Anyway, I really hope that you know that the work put into the wheel, the fests, the economy, and just sylestia as a whole is really appreciated. This is really the best site I've ever been a part of, and I think part of the reason is because it's not afraid to change whenever it needs to. :)

Change can be scary but I still support it, I'm sure however the new wheel works out to be it'll be even better!

Really agree with Entropy. I've enjoyed the wheel, and I find it nice to see it spinning, and the happiness that comes from winning something (every little bit is better than nothing imo). So I'll be sad to see it go for now.

That said, I really respect what you guys have been doing, and how you put so much consideration into every decision to improve the game experience and the community as happy as possible.

I generally don't like change, but I'm okay with it here since I know each change is not done lightly. =)

While I have personally enjoyed the Wheels, and understand why the payouts are as they are, I have had some other (ethical) issues with the Wheel, and therefore have mixed feelings on seeing it go. (Letting minors gamble with real money's never sat right with me, personally, but I'm weird like that.)

I always thought that removing the option to buy with diamonds, making the tickets rarer, and making the payouts better would be a good solution, but I imagine you (Krin and Fai) make a lot of money on people buying diamonds specifically to spin the Wheel. Well, I'm sure whatever solution you come up with, it'll be just as lucrative for you.

Having spent several hundreds of dollars this fest on pretty much pure lucky tickets with nothing to show for it, I have definitely been somewhat disheartened and disappointed. This isn't the first time I've done this but it's certainly the first time with 0 reward. Normally I come out of festivals feeling like I've helped Sylestia and I have some awesome pets to show for it. This time I guess I just have a bit of a bitter taste in my mouth, but that couldn't possibly have been prevented where RNGs are involved.

That said, I generally keep money aside for Sylestia festivals because I do enjoy supporting the site and I enjoy spinning the wheel. I was unsure on whether or not to continue saving and spending after this fest and my less-than-stellar luck because the wheel is the main attraction for me. I'd be interested to see what else Krin and Fai come up with to bridge the gap, but I will be sad to see it go.

Will you be introducing other "exclusive" pet methods?

The Windchaser Luffox was kinda a test of that this Festival. We'll take the feedback on it and our data and try to further improve that as well.

We do have something similar already planned for the Sylvorpa, but it's a bit more grand and we wanted to test the waters first before going ahead with that idea.

Aww no.... The wheel never even gave me a pet ever :( I wish really hard now to get a wheel pet by the end of this fest. I understand what is happening, but I'm sad to see it go.

The thing about the wheel is that if you only want one kind of wheel pet, and do not care for any of the other ones, the chances of you getting that wheel pet with traits you like is very very low.It doesn't matter how many times you spin; you could spend all festival long hunting and/or spend hundreds of dollars on lucky tickets, and never get any wheel pet. And that's pretty ridiculous imo, but I am not a gambler.

I liked the Mojo pets in the Halloween festival and the bakery pets and the Windchaser because your hard work pays off. (not all the time for everyone). I look forward to seeing more of these kind of events.

While I understand that the Wheel is a gamble, it isn't false to say that the other activities like Mojo and Bakery pets weren't based on randomness either.

It's random to get certain pets to show up or eggs to drop, in the case of Mojo.
It's random to encounter pets of certain rarities or certain species that you want, or even ingredients/item drops, in the case of Bakery.
And it's definitely random to get a pet from the Wheel.

(although, in the case of other items being flooded in the game that result in being devalued, I understand the detriment of the Wheel.)

As an MMORPG gamer, I can understand what the Wheel was supposed to mimic. (Or at least, I know that it mimics MMOs that entice players to try their luck with an item where it's 99% consolation prizes and 1% good prizes.)
I feel that a lot of the negative tension against the Wheel is that many people learn the hard way the risks of gambling and remember losses more than gain, especially if it's the first time they experience a gachapon/RNG-type prize-game.

(if anyone has played Gaia Online, the RIGs (Random Item Generator) are the Wheel's parallel. You pay $1-2 to play it once in hopes of getting an item, but 99% of the time, it's junk. On other games, particularly Asian MMOs, they're called gachapons, where it's the same thing, about $1-2 for a try, and same odds. On those games, the bad luck is pretty much expected, but because those games are backed by big corporations, the user feedback practically falls on deaf ears, and players just learn and accept the 99:1 odds.)

But what I meant to get at, was that even bakery and mojo events were stressful AND random, even moreso than the wheel at some times. I understand that they probably were just models to test out the first time, but I would definitely not use one to replace the other (as in using a bakery/mojo event to replace a wheel-type feature).

I'm going to miss the Wheel, particularly because I found a use for all the consolation prizes.
I hoard the lesser and greater philters for use in the future. I intend to use all the pies/prisma philters/dyes/mutators in the future for my pets or to sell. I DEFINITELY use ALL the traps, and it's extremely convenient to get them off the wheel than going back to the town to buy more. And the holiday currency/avatar items help me get items I didn't get before, or are good for selling back to the community.

I'm gonna miss that it gave out a lot of junk (consolation prizes) and a few shining gems (wheel pets). I'm gonna draw a R.I.P. Wheel picture someday maybe aha.
I look forward to seeing it again, particularly because it's practically in every MMO ever, and I know that this game's pretty fair and has standards that are scrutinized within reason. :)

First of all I want to thank Fai and Krin for what they do for the site because as an adult i can understand how time consuming this sort of thing is. So thanks guys. ^^ This site is definitely a success in my eyes and one of, if not the best, pet site I've ever played on since i was a child.

Now if anyone contests what i will say because of my luck yesterday, i had the same feelings about the wheel before that.

I personally always felt like i could never have gotten any great pets and as of lately have started breeding wheel offspring seeing as i would likely never have a chance at having a pet from the wheel. But i always liked the wheel and as Flute said, i also found a use for all the consolation prizes i got from spinning the wheel. I never even hoped for a wheel pet, i just didn't want philters and hoped i'd get traps xD

And though i dont want to start anything at all, the wheel is gambling. And like others have pointed out, it it's nice that it gives out consolation prizes at all let alone wheel pets. Seeing as it is gambling and how low the odds likely are, (though im nowhere close to understanding them), it unfortunate that multiple people have paid hundreds of dollars for particular fests in general and have nothing to show for it. This thing happens in a casino too. Many times i've gone into the casino and lost all my money but that's the point of a casino to make money. Now im not saying that the point of the wheel is to lose money, but Krin and Fai include tickets in the diamond shop in order to reap some rewards out of running the site, which idk what they do in life, but is likely a large source of income for them. so yes, they are selling you like a raffle ticket of sorts, but its a product which you are buying.

And i really want to stress that im not trying to attack the people who don't like the wheel and want it gone because i can see why that is understandable. But a few of the demands i've heard from other players, not necessarily on this forum (which i dont remember because i've been typing so long :p) sound pretty greedy from a gambling perspective (and just in general). And though i understand when you pay for something you hope for more than whatever the current lucky wheel spin prize is (which is kinda reasonable), the point of the wheel was to get tickets for free, but you have the option of getting more tickets and just because you buy out 100 more tickets than someone else at a raffle doesn't necessarily mean youre gonna win it especially with such low odds.

Now im not exactly arguing for the wheel or against the wheel here, i guess im just trying to take a defensive stance for the sites creators (which i hope didn't reflect poorly on them or myself). Fai and Krin you can't please everyone, but good luck on finding the most approved and the best way of distributing these rare pets. If anyone read all this thanks for reading and i dont exactly remember where i was going but here i am :)
