As someone who enjoys conversing on region chat from time to time, I can attest to this. Sometimes things get way out of hand.
I have seen players get banned from region chat before, specifically for begging, so that solution might be a possibility. I am wondering if it would be acceptable to contact Krin about problematic behaviors like this as well.

I've been so busy outside of nurture boards that I haven't been able to participate much with region chat. I can't really add anything to what's going on because I've been mostly absent from it. That said, I do have something of an idea. Probably not something easy to code (maybe not even possible) but if there's a wish to continue to not have hired mods then this could possibly help? My idea is to have it where you can flag right in region chat if something is said is not appropriate. Like there could be a small symbol or something? Not sure what, but if someone's continuing to go on with inappropriate material, these can be flagged so people don't have to make a whole bunch of separate messages to Krin and Krin could see right in region chat where the conversation happened.

I love this idea! It could even just be a little flag like the Forums. Just low enough that it would be pretty hard to accidentally hit, but close enough that you can't miss it when looking.

I think this may be a good idea but only if there are very distinct rules about what is and is not allowed. It would not be good to allow human error and sensitivities to dictate what constitutes unacceptable discussion. The other option is to have a temporary block ability just for chat.

Oh absolutely! In essence that is what an official moderator is. At the moment we're expected to self moderate which is inevitably ruled by individual sensitivities. An official moderator would be a person with experience moderating a public space and solid understanding of the boundaries that should be imposed in RC as well as the social prowess needed to redirect and disarm situations as needed.
I think a temporary/permanent block ability is also a great idea. Bella created a different suggestion thread about increased blocking function that included RC blocking in it.
The flagging idea for RC is another good idea tbh. Though I feel like a Moderator is still necessary and that the two should be implemented together. Keeping up with RC flags would be one more thing for Krin to balance when it could be delegated to a Mod.

Mods have been something suggested for years and I think unfortunately the answer has been a pretty firm no. While mods is something I would still like to see, I think trying to come up with other possible solutions are more likely to bear fruit.
It's been a while so I can't quite recall the reasoning put out before against there being mods. It may be something along the lines that there could be even more drama if mods are selected from the players. I have wondered about separate mod accounts and that the main account could be kept anonymous? Mods may act more faithfully and unbiased if their friends don't know who they are. Maybe that's too convoluted though?

Yeah, I remember it being a discussion in the past. However, mods don't have to come from the community. It's possible to hire from outside of the community and, imo, it almost should be from outside the community to avoid that sort of interpersonal drama. I've seen plenty of mod drama on other pet sites, so I get the possible risk it poses in that sense, but there's a point at which a community needs dedicated management and if Sylestia continues to grow then it will reach that point.
At the very least, some sort of flagging system for RC would be nice.

I wouldn't be surprised if this was something that was done in the future because a lot of forum sites do this.

Honestly the reality is at this rate of seemingly good growth and activity, at some point it'll be extremely taxing if not impossible for Krin and Fai to be the only people able to effectively moderate. It could easily get to the point where it wears on them mentally/emotionally if it isn't already.

I'm all for this. I honestly think it would be better than just "promoting" a player's account, for the same reasons. I can also imagine that people would hear so-and-so, their friend/acquaintance/talked to once/whatever, has become a moderator and then just blow up their inbox/pings/etc. asking for things because they're a publicly known player with an ""upgrade"" (read: zero responsibility to indulge those people). Being anonymous sounds great to me.
