I hate the "breed designations" that are created by players themselves.
Okay, that was a bit harsh.

I can tolerate people making projects of their own with regular essences. They give them little tiny labels and names anyways. I can also understand giving themed holiday pets a special official label that goes in the database as a special marker. Both are different cases and different origins.
But labeling them with the same purple text that is used for OFFICIAL EVENT-GIVEN pets is a bad idea. Well. Any text at all that puts them in the same category as themed-pets, which they are not.

tl;dr that was a bad idea, sells out to diamond-players, and is in a different tier from what's official.

Also, Divinis makes a good point. I can't imagine how many spooky/blood scream ryori have been bred by now lol.

However, if they were truly labeled correctly based on geneology (without geneology trees even be released, because you can just click through the parents), then I don't think any scamming could be conceivable. Take for example ryoris bred from Assassin of the Hallows: any ryoris that are related to that ryori won't turn up holiday anyways.

I agree regarding diamond bought name tags not being a good idea. I think it could be confusing to players who would have to double check whether it's an official themed breed or someone's customs. It also limits the availability of names for future official themed pets.

About making sure all parents in a genealogy are true themed festival pets, if you feel suspicious you could look at the dates. Check when the Festivals were running that the pets were from. If they're from Christmas 2012, Valentine's, or the Spring Festival then those pets would only have been available from raids on Esior's Haven. These occurred at specific times so you can check the other pets caught around the same time. There should be more event pets. It's a bit of work to do this though, and I don't really expect this to be a problem that we'd see often if ever.

I never said that the Diamond buyable Theme designation I mentioned would be the same color as the official ones, you two assumed that, lol. I'm not even assuming it would be on the same level as the Official themes at all, only that it is a possibility that Krin and Fai could explore as a source of revenue. Even if it were the same, I don't think it is that confusing, since even a little bit of searching is going to find the difference quickly enough, but I guess the same can be said about the geneologies. And I'm sorry, but the names are already taken to some extent. If I had taken the time to produce my own line of breeding, even if its not at all official, I think I'd be a little confused if an Official line came out of the same name. I am fairly sure that Fai and Krin are aware of most of the more publically advertised projects, and consciously or not avoid using their names.

On the geneology scamming question... Please remember, for now there are very few lineages that go back more than a handfull of generations. On Drag Cave? I've seen lineages going 12 deep "even gen" (meaning the lineage is even, going back to an equal number of parents on all branches, with no repeats), and I am sure there are many "messy" ones that are far longer than that. By the time you get to the third or fourth layer? hand checking ALL those lines becomes both tedious and difficult to efficiently manage even with a lineage line. In other words, easy to scam, if your of a mind to. I agree, once the geneology button is in place, this becomes much more manageable to check on, but unless each one of the parents is clearly labeled with their theme on the geneology table, you will still have to hand check each and every one of them to find it. There are people using essences to create look alikes of many of the more popular themes, so this is not such a far fetched "scam" to pull, not as the game gets bigger and more an more people start playing. Even without intentional scamming, I have at least two half breed AS Griffi that if you didn't look at the parents, look exactly like the full bloods. If I wanted to push it, I could try and pass these off as "AS Griffi" and just conveniently not mention the mother isn't, unless pressed. For what the full breeds are going for? I'm surprised I haven't seen it done yet, honestly. This game is still relatively small, Fai and Krin are still very active and most people know the major players so its harder to scam in the first place, but as things get more complicated? That's what I am worried about.

I don't know how Krin is planning on handling the geneology button, but adding the themes to be visible is an extra layer of intricacy to the geneology that I am not honestly expecting. I'll be pleased and amazed if it is there, but I'm not expecting it. I am just hoping for at least a clickable thumbnail image of the parents and grandparents, etc. Anything more will be a bonus.

Honestly Savyn, if you have to look at the time of capture and cross check that to when the Events were happening... most people aren't even gonna realize that is something you could do to check it, and honestly I didn't even know that was how those events operated. I joined just before the Fall Festival, and it and the Winter Fest were apparently run very differently. Most people will, like I did, assume the other festivals were run somewhat the same until told otherwise. So again, another way in which a scammer could work things to his advantage, as most of us relative "newbies" would have little clue what to check for, since those themed pets weren't labeled the same way. For all I know, a few pet dies and a pet captured the same day in another area would give you the same look, so I am still not sure even that would work. But thanks for the information! Good to know.
