Day Five


When you open your eyes, things begin to register slowly, one after the other. Your head hurts, your back is damp. There are stars above you, and the faintest pinkish hue. Something warm is resting against your side. Slowly turning your head, you catch a flash of inky blue and black, speckled with gold. Kit's ears perk up when he realizes you are awake, and he immediately jumps up to sniff under your chin.

"Where'd you go, huh?" you manage to croak out. He yaps, spinning in a circle, and then points to the direction your feet are. A little dizzy, you sit up, propping yourself up on your arms. Your blood freezes in your veins under the gaze of the...Shiner. That sounds about right. Those headlamp eyes are staring at you, unblinking. It seems to be the same one you saw just before passing out.

Kit seems unaffected. In fact, he happily bounds toward the thing, running around her legs and licking her masked face when she leans down to inspect him. She makes no moves to hurt him; she acts just like any other Faelora.

When you're finally able to stand, your jaw almost drops. For as you move, the field is bathed in lights. dozens of eyes open as Shiners resting here and there rise with you, eyes wide and watching.

"Uh..."

Kit isn't displaying any signs of agitation or fear. Does this mean they aren't dangerous...? If so, why do they all seem so interested in you?
