It's really dark, and you stumble along, but finally you reach a place where a small road diverges off of the main road and the main road continues forwards.

(Drat! *tosses out all American knowledge*)

He shivered a bit as he walked through the woods. It almost felt like he wasn't welcomed here. As the house came into view though he jogged towards it desperately trying to escape the woods.

You haven't seen the house yet, you are at a place where a small road diverges off of the main road. You can choose to go down the small road, continue down the main road, or do something like ignore both roads completely and head into the forest or something.

As you stand in front of the mirror, you feel a cold chill pass through the room, as if you were not the only one here anymore.

Some of the refracted images smirk and laugh at you, others claw at the other side of the mirror, but the one beckoning you from before now pointed to your left, at the fireplace. At a specific candle on the right side of the mantle.

I go to inspect the candle.

The candlestick looks fake, unlike the other candles in the room, who's candlesticks are made of real gold. It also looks like it's stuck to the mantle as well, and cannot be picked up.

I try to push it, press down on it or look for any hidden compartments on it.

When you push it, it clicks like a lever, and the fireplace shakes, sending out a small cloud of dust, forcing you to step back. With creaking and squealing, it appears that the fireplace was a secret compartment. It turned, fireplace going into the wall, and a bookcase appearing on your side. When it stopped and you examined it, the books were neatly placed in rows, a bit dusty, but still neat.
