Italy is extending its coronavirus quarantine measures, which include a ban on public gatherings, to the entire country. Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte said that people would only be permitted to travel for work or family emergencies. He said the measures, which come into effect on Tuesday, were to defend the most fragile members of society.

Italy's coronavirus death toll jumped on Monday by 97 to 463. It is the worst-hit country after China.

The number of confirmed infections also increased to 9,172, up from 7,375 on Sunday, official figures show.

They came to light in an atmosphere of total chaos, after a draft bill outlining the measures was leaked to the press yesterday evening. The proposal suggested that northern Italy would be on total lockdown, and so thousands of people rushed to hop on overcrowded trains heading south. Finally, at 2 a.m. local time, Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte gave a press conference, clarifying that Lombardy and the other provinces wouldnt seal their borders, just that citizens would be obligated to practice reduced mobility and could leave only for emergencies. All the schools in my area are closing, except mine so Im staying home tomorrow. We just had the first case in my county, and the person who has it has a brother who goes to my sisters school.

Oh yikes, be careful! We haven't had any confirmed cases in my county yet-- but its only a mattermof time,, I live in like--- the travel hub of my state xD except maybe down south,, they might be busier.
