"D-Devil!" Colann screamed.

A soft chuckle filled the darkness, bright eyes shining. "Stop being so loud, lad. Don't want to wake up the others, yes?"

Colann whimpered softly, no words leaving his mouth. Fear coursed through his veins, a panic drive wired through all humans.

"Scared, aren't you?" The figure laughed, shifting on animal-like legs. "I'm not the Devil, son. See, I'm not goat-legged. Call me Kel, lad."

Colann stood up, staring at the bright green eyes of this..creature. "Kel..pie.."

Kel laughed. "You're right, son. I am a Kelpie." He held out his hand, smiling. "Hop on my back, and I'll take you for a ride."

Colann stared in shock as the Kelpie transformed into a snowy-white steed. "Y-You're Little Snow! You're the Pickenson's cart horse!"

Kel didn't respond, but flicking his tail. Colann knew he should run away..But he felt like he had to climb onto the horse. Carefully, he mounted the steed. Slowly, Kel started off, trotting quietly over the dew-covered plains. The grass brushed against Colann's bare ankles, ice cold.

It was dark, and the stars were shining softly in the sky. There were no clouds, and everything was eerily silent. The Kelpie led Colann farther away from the wagons, until they were just dark smudges in the moonlight.

Kel stopped, and Colann looked around. They had stopped in a small ditch, right under the moon. Colann got off quietly, and watched Kel transform. The Kelpie smiled at him, then pointed at the moon.

"Beautiful, ay?"

"Yes-" Colann was cut off as sharp teeth sank into his neck, and blood sprayed into the air. He screamed loudly as the Kelpie savagely ripped into his flesh.

Kel grinned as he hungrily fed, breathing heavily. It had been so long he'd fed..Grass was tasteless, and did nothing to end his hunger for meat. Blood covered his chin and neck, dripping onto his clothes. Colann was still half alive, twitching. Kel tore open Colann's chest, piercing the young boy's heart. He smiled, continuing to feed on the boy.

Eventually, the murderous creature was full. He smiled, washing off the blood with his shirt. "Bye, lad. Hope you liked the moon.." He turned into a horse, and returned to the wagons. His ears flicked as Mister Pickerson approached him.

"Snow! There you are. Can't have you running away, right?" He led the horse over to the carts and tied him up. Stupid humans...

They didn't notice the red liquid covering his teeth, and lips.
